Grex Board of Directors meeting March 5, 2004
|
Mar 9 19:58 UTC 2004 |
1. Gavel sounded at 7:15pm
2. Treasurer s report: In the black for February. Took in $458,
paid out $360. 87 members at the end of February 75 paid up. As of
the meeting date there were 83 members, 78 paid up. We re getting in
what has traditionally been a slow time for Grex financially, April-
September.
Aruba sent in IRS information, regarding the 501(3)(c) status.
Apparently they had tried to mail something to an old address, Aruba
contacted them and filled out the forms. They were sent in a week ago
Thursday (from the meeting date) and he received a return receipt on
Friday. The IRS says to allow 30 days for turnaround time. He also
needed a certificate from the state of Michigan saying we were
current, which cost $10.
3. Staff Report / Next Grex- There hadn t been a staff meeting as
of the date of the board meeting. Most everyone has been engaged in
other things. Bhoward set up home directories and is moving scripts
from the old to new (and documenting these in RCS)
Gelinas discovered that the script that runs 9 minutes after the hour
to remove files from /tmp that are two days old doesn t remove
directories. So he went ahead to get rid of some of the directories
that were in there.
Note also that packet filters on the new machine won t trust a certain
files unless it is written by root.
4. Schedule next meeting: Monday April 12th at 7:00 pm at Aruba s.
Enter Drew
5. New Business: A discussion followed regarding the feasibility
of making twit filters more easily accessible. There are several users
who would like to engage filters, but do not know how. Perhaps
a shared filter concept could be in place wherein user A who like
the filter User B had set up, for their personal reading, could be
then copied and used by User A. Discussion turned to how slashdot uses
their user ranking system. The conversation boiled down to mary
volunteering to start an item discussing this, and remmers will look
at creating a friendlier front-end for twit filters.
6. Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm
