Minutes of Grex Board of Directors meeting, 17 January 2002.

1. Bang Gavel - 7:27 pm (unofficial - no quorum)
2. Election of officers (postponed until 7:51pm)

Treasurer:
Nominations: aruba. aruba wins by acclamation.
3. Chair Report
"I wanna go home now." The group thanks Meg for her two
years of service to Grex.
4. Treasurer Report
Very slow month in December.

3 new members in January
97 members, 91 paid up.

We need to submit our personal property tax by 27 January,
which requires STeve (or other staff) to assign values to
our inventory. Coercion will be applied as necessary.
5. Sign papers to open a savings account
Meg will be submitting a letter to have herself removed as a
signer on our checking account, and Mary will replace her.
aruba moves that Eric Bassey (other), Jan Wolter (janc),
Mary Remmers (mary), and Mark Conger (aruba) be named as
signers on Grex's checking account.
Vote: 6 yea, 0 nay. Motion carries.
6. Publicity Report
"There isn't one." (A GREX ad will appear in the program for
this Sunday's performance by the UM Life Sciences Orchestra
at the Michigan Theatre at 2pm.)
7. Staff Report
The usual stupid problems (a broken mail forward which caused
a crash), but nothing of significance to report.
Staff has no progress to report on the transition to the next
Grex, due to holidays.
8. New Business
Mary reports the letter to the landlord indicating our desire
to renew our lease has been sent.
9. Schedule next meeting
Thursday 21 February 2002, 7:00 pm.
In the case that less than a quorum is present for any meeting,
the meeting will be cancelled one half hour after the posted
starting time of the meeting unless a quorum is achieved
by that time.

Thanks for posting the minutes so quickly, Eric. The motion in item 5 was to name those people as signers of both our checking account and our forthcoming savings account.

What was the gist of the discussion on the issue I raised in the agenda item (the fact that Grex is rejecting all Comcast mail)?

John - Mary discussed the Comcast issue with Marcus while we were signing the signature cards, but I didn't hear what was said.

Marcus said Comcast had something set not quite right and that the fix on Grex's end was too kludgy to contemplate. He'd rather Comcast fixed their end. I didn't understand enough about it to ask appropriate questions but instead ask if he could send John some mail explaining why this probably won't be fixed soon.

I'll send mail to Marcus asking him to respond here. I bet there are others, besides John, who are having problems with Comcast mail being blocked. If that's indeed what's happening.
