Publicity: A2 News Computer & Web Page Directory

"The Ann Arbor News is proud to bring you our second issue of this
complete computer users guide geared toward the home user and
the small business." -- page D5, today's paper
I suggest that Grex get one of the small classified ads in this
users guide. Today's ad says 80,000 copies will be distributed around
Ann Arbor, with inclusion in the paper on Sunday, July 13.
A Grex ad should cost $50 or less: $10 per line, less two free
lines. $10 to put the ad in a box.
The prototype ad form is at http://www.mlive.com/directoryform
First proposal for the classified ad:
((type of organization: community non-profit))
Grex
http://www.cyberspace.org
community discussion & free e-mail
works with old computers and modems -
dial 734-761-3000
We could have a fourth line describing Grex. I'm open to improvements
on the lines describing Grex.
Deadline is June 18. I propose that a mini-fundraiser gather up the
needed funds, and I'll start with a pledge of $10.
I'm nominating myself to shepherd this through to completion.

Leslie took the ad copy and a personal check to the A2 News offices on
Monday. Due to some timing issues involved at the end of the business
day she didn't get a receipt, so perhaps they will mail us one.
The total cost was $40.

The Grex ad appeared in the advertising supplement in Sunday's
Ann Arbor News, just as I'd specified it. They put us in our
own category of "Public Services," on Page 4. (I'd suggested
"Community Non-Profit Organization," but it's just as well they
didn't put us in that section, which was crowded and boring. :) )
Too bad Grex was down for most of the day the ad appeared, but
hopefully a few people will save that little supplement as a
directory for future use.
