We added 24 people to the membership rolls in 2002: ah3133, antoniob,
babbpo, bulloc, call911, dvm, essex, falcon76, ghoshda, jaklumen, jep,
jimd, keesan, khyung, kintar, lisalj, mbusse, micklpkl, mopsy, mynxcat,
nraj, tod, trh, and vlt. Of those, 14 were still members at the end of
the year.
At the end of 2001 we had 96 paid-up members. At the end of 2002 we had
80 paid-up members. We had an average of 84 paid up members during the year.
The phone bill should go down to about $157, and the taxes shown are high
because we were late paying the 2001 personal property taxes, so they are
included too. Otherwise, the monthly expenses you see are about what we can
expect in 2003.

I made a small mistake - I recorded the interest from our CD that came due
in May as misc. So transfer $9.91 from the miscellaneous donations total to
interest.
To me, the most striking things about this summary are
1. The drop in membership from the beginning of the year to the end, and
2. What's missing from the credits is anything from the Grex auction. We
could make up a good bit of our deficit if we had a strong auction.
I'd like to get the auction going soon, but I think we need more donations.

Mark, it's time we had a serious talk. I'm sorry I've let it get to
this point.
This grad school thing is interfering in your duties as Grex
treasurer. I think it's time to get your priorities in line and quit
messing around with your educational hobby.
Grex needs a better effort from you, in order to meet it's potential.
This just isn't the right time for you to be distracted with outside
interests.
I've contacted your academic advisor and taken the necessary steps to
cancel your classes for the upcoming semester. No, no need to thank
me. Now that you have more free time, we'll expect to see a number of
things happening that will move Grex to financial security.
We'll consider allowing you to return to some of your classes in
another year, provided your performance justifies it.
Thanks!
John Perry, directator,
Subcommittee Overseeing Most Grex Relations With the External World
(SOM-GREW)

No, no! Anything but that!
But, while they'd have to be early agoras to have quotes from me, I notice
some postings (in coop & some other places) from some more recent Grexers who
might be even more open to such blackmail. And I don't think they're exactly
quiet in agora, either.
