Nominations for the Board of Directors Mark Unseen   Oct 20 23:35 UTC 2002

Nominations are now open for the Cyberspace Communications, Inc.
Board of Directors. In accordance with Article 4, Section d of
the Bylaws, nominations will close on November 15 and an online
election will be held December 1 through December 15. Terms of
office begin on January 1, 2003, and are two years in length.
Three seats are up for election this time around.

Any current member of Grex who has paid at least 3 months'
membership dues is eligible to run for and serve on the Board
unless they are currently serving and are completing the second
of two consecutive terms. (People in the latter group are
eligible to run again in next year's election if they are
still members at that time.)

The terms of four board members have one more year to run:
Eric Bassey (other), Greg Fleming (flem), Mary Remmers (mary),
and Marcus Watts (mdw). Hence there is no point in nominating
any of them.

The three Board members whose terms end on December 31 are
Steve Andre (steve), Mark Conger (aruba), and Anne Perry
(mooncat). Steve Andre is completing the second of two
consecutive terms and is therefore not eligible to be a
candidate in this election. Marc Conger and Anne Perry are
both eligible to run for re-election.

To appear on the ballot, a person must be nominated in this
item by November 15 and affirmatively accept the nomination
before the date that voting begins. Self-nomination is
permitted.

I'll nominate our ultra-dedicated Treasurer for another term of great

Is STeve really not eligible? I had thought he was not on the board
when I was first elected.

I think it would be great to see bhelliom elected - she's been showing
up at meetings with admirable efficiency despite not actually being on
the board.

STeve was elected in 1998, then reelected in 2000. See Coop11, Item 59
(item:coop11,59) for documentation. So he's not eligible to run this
time.

I'd like to nominate cmcgee. She's a long-time Grex user, Coop
fairwitness, and has had a lot of experience serving on boards
of non-profits. In my opinion she'd be a real asset to the Grex
board.

response 20 of 176: Mark Unseen   Oct 25 13:19 UTC 2002

Thanks remmers. I'm one step closer to being able to accept, but not
this year. I've pared my BoD commitments for two organizations, and will
be resigning from one shortly. I think next year or the year after I'll
be able to do this.

No I'm not a member yet. But I will be. By when do I need to be a member?

You would need to be a member by December 1, the start of the voting
period.

Re #15: On grex seconds are not needed, nor are nominations. All you
gotta do is say you are running. Self nomination is OK.
