For $160 one could buy a M-net patronship and a Grex membership.
For $110 one could buy a M-net membership and a Grex membership.
For $ 75 one could buy a M-net citizenship and a Grex membership.
Seems like a pretty nice discount system is already in place. :)

For those of us who haven't logged on to M-Net for six years,
could someone explain the three levels of payment mentioned in #1 ?

(it needs to be explained for some of us who *have* used M-Net
within the past six years or so, too. :P isn't it Arbornet now?)

An M-Net patron gets all the electronic access/disk storage/whatever
M-Net offers. An M-Net member gets slightly reduced access.
An M-Net citizen gets no extra access. Patrons, members, and
citizens all get to vote. Guests (free users) don't get to vote.

Sounds like a headache to administer compared with our member/guest set-
up, but it does sound like it has some advantages.
I would not support any special discounts for joining both at once. I
don't think there is any point other than making the treasurer's life
more difficult.

How many members, patrons, "citizens", and "none of the above" does
m-net have today?

I think Jamie meant to write something like:
11 "regular" Patrons
10 lifetime Patrons (for past services rendered to M-net.)

own citizenship.) :^)

Sorry, you can color me a grex bigot - I have no interest in tying mnet to
grex in any official way whatsoever, including funding schemes.

As I argued on M-Net, having a joint membership program only means that
people who woud support both systems anyway, would now do so for a
little less money. I'm a regular on both systems who thinks it's a bad
idea.

Joint membership would imply someone would want to use *both* systems. I
have no desire or interest in M-net <:

Certain grexer's attitudes towards Mnet and "mnetters" always reminds me
of why it was so much fun here last summer when Mnet was down. :)

Last summer's experience is one reason I chose to support m-net, so that
m-netters would stay in their own bbs instead of using grex - the two do not
mix well. M-netters may have found it fun, but grexers did not.

Given the differences in the two cultures, I think that the

I don't see it being much of an incentive.
I'm always suspicious of "package deals" anyhow. ;>
