He must be mad about something.

This decision is a culmination of a number of factors:

o I don't have enough time in my life to work a full-time job,
complete a dissertation, be domestically self-independent
and sufficient, and work as a staff member here on Grex all in the
     same period of time.

o I've lost a lot of interest in Grex and its users. Notwithstanding
this, I still believe many of Grex's community objectives are
     creditable.

o I'm quite perplexed at some people's logic void, and their political
aspirations and motivations here on Grex.

o I think technically Grex is missing promising advancement
opportunities. This is not surprising in a country who is
reknowned for lacking ingenuity, and continues to persist with
vastly inferior "homemade" technology and ideas, rather than
rationally attaining and/or constructing leading-edge technological
     products.

You asked. I answered - not that it matters.

Whoa. Geez, it isnt enough to insult just grex but you have to insult
the United States too? Sheesh.

Well, you know we're the bottom rung anyways. I spent more than half
a year once trying to figure out how to get out of the country and into
europe.

Um, a plane ticket?

response 7 of 34: Mark Unseen   Apr 2 21:39 UTC 2001

Yeah, but when you wanna leave the country for more than a visit, you either
have to plan a lot or get lucky with a job.

Like Australia is any better than the UK, which isn't much better than Canada,
which isn't much better than the USA, which isn't much better than Mexico,
which isn't much better than the Artic... so... PUT YOUR EGO AWAY.

It's a shame Jared isn't Irish. If he were, it would be simple.

response 9 of 34: Mark Unseen   Apr 2 21:47 UTC 2001

Honey, if you think that Mexico isnt much better than the ARtic, I
suggest you try to drink a margarita in a bathing suit on the North
Pole. *snort* I think you'll be thinking that sunny Mexico has got
something on the Artic. ;)

How would being Irish help Jared?

Sorry to see you go, Mic. Good luck with your thesis.

I think mic may be feeling underappreciated. I would like to take this
opportunity to profusely thank all staff members for all the good work they
have done. You could not pay people to do what the grex staff has
accomplished with donated antique equipment.

No one knows what Jared is... it is quite the mystery. Some even claim that
I live with that fictious person.

If one can trace themself back to being irish you qualify for citizenship.
This means one can use that as a steping stone to other european countries
and jobs.

Instead of sneaking out of the country to europe I got on Grex and M-net
instead :).

Interesting. How Irish would I have to be? What fraction of my ancestors,
within the last how many years, and for how many generations do they have to
have been there?

I really don't mind being appreciated as a staff member. I'd much rather
appreciation as a person.

I think that's something we all want, Mic. There are no sure-fire ways to
get it, though.

Maybe when time is in greater volume (few months down the track), and if I
am still wanted, I can offer more again.

#16: If you can trace your Irish roots to the extent of having one Irish
grandparent, then you can claim Irish nationality from the gov. of the South
of Ireland. Not quite the same as being Irish per se, but that's another
topic...

response 24 of 34: Mark Unseen   Apr 4 03:21 UTC 2001

"Irish" grandparent as in having been born on the Emerald Isle?
