Minutes of Grex Board of Directors meeting, 28 February 2001 Mark Unseen   Mar 1 05:45 UTC 2001

Minutes of Grex Board of Directors meeting, 28 February 2001.

Attendees: eeyore*, flem*, jiffer, mooncat*, other*, aruba*, janc,
valerie, arlo, steve*, drew, scott (* indicates board member)

1. Gavel Banging: 7:07 pm

2. Chair Report: "There's nothin'." "Nobody's allowed to mention my
spelling. It sucks. I know it."

3. Treasurer's Report: January report has been posted. $3554.00 balance,
end of Jan. Extra expenses: renewing PO box, corporation fees, domain
renewal (cyberspace.org). Assessment of phone bills showed we are still
paying for the expired ISDN line. Ameritech never followed through on the
shutoff order. Shutoff is imminent, and they owe us $450.00. non-profit
corp update (minor interruption as arlo knocks cars off table): aruba is
the person on record with address to which update forms are sent, and they
were not forwarded. Everything now is hunky dorey. aruba has been
harassing unpaid members mercilessly. (steve pulls out wallet) 4 new
members in January. 3 new members in February. 94 members, all but 5
paid up. $1021.00 in February Current balance $4042.00. Core.com has
bought voyager.net. They haven't billed us, and we owe them $1417.54.
Auction will begin again soon. (Maybe April.) aruba sent out receipts to
all who requested them for donations. The Grex Store is $6.60 from being
profitable. Janc's research indicates that three dial-in lines have not
been used for three months.
Moved by steve: "We will drop two dial-in lines unless during the course
of a one week discussion in the co-op conference it is decided otherwise."
Seconded by: eeyore
Vote: 6 for, 0
against, 0 abstain.
Motion passes.

4. Signature Card Stuff:
Motion by aruba: "Designated signers on the Grex checking account are to
be aruba, eeyore, other and janc."
Seconded by: steve
Vote: 6 for, 0 against, 0 abstain.
Motion passes.

5. Credit Card Update: We've authorized volunteer scott pursue getting our
CardService merchant account closed out in advance of the six-month
contractually determined period if at all possible. See the co-op
conference item 232 for the full story.

6. Publicity Committee Report: As usual, nothing, but jiffer thinks we
should create a scandal. The scandal begins in a coup in which jiffer
takes over as chair of the publicity committee. Scott thinks we should
vitalize the publicity conference, which is suffering from a lack of
publicity.

7. Technical Committee Report: The pace of ftp droppings filling up disks
is increasing. A co-op item is forthcoming. Sendmail is having some minor
issues. Staff will address this with mdw (our resident sendmail-tamer).

8. UPS Discussion: Scott wants to do something with a UPS unit in the
pumpkin which is not in use and which needs new batteries. He has offered
to buy it for $30. By consensus, the board has authorized the sale to
scott of the unit.

9. New Business: None

10. Next Meeting: Wednesday, 21 March.

11. More Gavel Banging: 8:27 pm

Ya' know, you could have left off the thing about the spelling. Or at the
very least, explained the referance.

Look. I never said that I could spell properly....and typing stuff just makes
it worse, since my fingers don't always do what I want them to. I normally
just correct as I go, but sometimes I just give up.

Thank you, Scott, for volunteering on those contract calls.

I have a nearly infinite patience level in dealing with such things. Much
more effective than yelling, usually.
