Minutes of Grex Board Meeting, 24 January 2001

In attendance: other*, aruba*, janc, mdw*, steve*, Carol, eeyore*, 
        mooncat*, flem*, remmers, mary.
        (* Denotes current board member)

Opening gavel: 7:20 pm.

Chair had nothing to report. 

Treasurer's Report: Currently we have 110 members.  Our domain name is 
        up for renewal....we need to renew now.  Paypal is working...we 
        have 3 new members, and 6 or 7 people who have renewed.

No Publicity report.   

Tech:   There was a loop hole in the idle zapper - being fixed.  Modem 
        use continues to drop.  Party use is dropping?  Mark complained
        that his pickle was shorter than before.  Jan is working on an
        automatic password reset for the those who lose their passwords, 
        so that Steve Weiss can enjoy his weekends again.  It would just 
        send the new password to the address in the user's .plan file.  
        It is currently awaiting staff feedback. 
        Backtalk is being updated again...spellcheck coming soon.  It's
        now on a free license.

New Business: We've not recieved bills from the DSL line...going to do
        some looking into that.  Mary is going to write a letter to the
        agent that states that we are indeed keeping our lease for the
        next year (the normal thingy).

Election of 2001 Officers: remmers administered the voting, but did not 
        report vote counts.
        The first election was for Chair.  Nominees were eeyore and 
        other.  eeyore was elected.
        Nominees for treasurer and secretary were aruba and other,
        respectively.
        Both ran unopposed and were elected.

"Party use is dropping?"  I don't know how this was being measured.
If it was by the size of the logs: some of the daytime party addicts
have been hanging out in non-standard channels whose logs are not 
accumulated.  (I asked some people if they wanted to change things
so the logs were saved, and they said No.)

I've noticed that that "lull" in Grex use is apparently over.  Much more
crowded in the mornings, more new people stumbling into Agora, etc.

Gack, if I'd realized that you were just going to transfer over what I mailed
to you, I would have put it in a much nicer form!!!!

I cleaned it up to the extent I felt was necessary to communicate the 
essentials.  Don't worry about it.

I just wanted to get something up, and I've been pressed for time lately.
