If memory serves, we haven't decided about a tape backup unit
yet. Can we have closure on that at this meeting?

response 3 of 15: Mark Unseen   Nov 16 08:06 UTC 2000

(is the meeting scheduled on Daylight Savings Time in order to confuse
potential attendees?)

(Probably yet another instance of the hazards of copy-n-paste.
I know I've been bitten a few times.)

Just use ET and you won't have to bother with D or S. :-)

then some smartass would ask whether we were holding the meeting in
extraterrestrial time... (like me...) ;)

So don't . . . never mind; I was going to suggest spelling out "Local Time",
but then someone will point out that their local time is different.

response 10 of 15: Mark Unseen   Nov 17 15:24 UTC 2000

See? You wouldn't have this problem if you'd just use GMT.

response 11 of 15: Mark Unseen   Nov 17 16:15 UTC 2000

You could say "Ann Arbor time", except that some would take this as licence
to be late ...

response 12 of 15: Mark Unseen   Nov 17 22:20 UTC 2000

You could do it in such a way (would it require Picospan modifications) such
that it would use the TZ environment variable to present the time in the
user's local time, but that might be even more confusing for those who assume
that meetings will be scheduled in the local timezone for the meeting
location.

response 13 of 15: Mark Unseen   Nov 22 04:40 UTC 2000

Why not just omit the time and have people come when they feel like it? That
would also fix the scheduling problems.

response 14 of 15: Mark Unseen   Nov 22 14:50 UTC 2000

However, it would tend to exacerbate attendance problems...

Offer free refreshments to any board member who shows up on time?
