Grex's Landlord tries to raise rent despite lease options. Mark Unseen   Nov 6 21:42 UTC 2000

Grex has received a letter explaining that there will be a significant,
but as yet unspecified, increase in the rent.

The board is in the midst of authorizing Mary Remmers to represent Grex's
interests in the pursuit of this matter, as she has most excellently done
so in the past with concerns of a like nature.

Stay tuned! Further developments to be posted as they happen (or as soon
as practicable thereafter).

I just spoke with our management agent (new company) and the
bottom line is the letter that was sent out does not apply to
us. He said it does apply to renters who are on a month to
month lease with bundled utilities and who haven't seen a
rent increase in a long time.

He stated he would most certainly honor our lease and when
I questioned him regarding whether that meant the renewal
terms he said he'd be willing to honor the existing agreement,
including the renewal terms and stipulated yearly rent increases.

He sounded like a nice and reasonable guy who will be easy to work with.
And that is good news indeed. He doesn't have a copy of our lease so I
said I'd send him one. I'll be sending staff the telephone numbers
to use for both non-emergency and emergency issues. Too, our
rent should now go to a new address, effective immediately. I'll
make sure our overworked treasurer has that information. ;-)

Well, maybe, but your willingness to function as liaison on several occasions
gives you an advantage in this. Thanks!

We seem to have lucked out and have a reasonable, cooperative
landlord. (Unlike one unfortunate experience of several years
ago.)
