Coop Restart? Mark Unseen   Sep 5 03:30 UTC 1999

It may just be me, but I think that Coop is getting rather big and bulky
(122 items) Perhaps a restart is in order, sometime within a month or
so. Just a suggestion.

Well, it's now May of 2000, and coop still hasn't been restarted. I'm
waiting ...

(Please? pretty please with sugar on top?)

Have you tried emailing the FWs? They might discuss the issues with you, if
they have reasons for not restarting. (Reasons might simply include "I'm too
busy to think about it now" or "I emailed cfadm to do it but haven't heard
back", as well as substantive ones, of course.)

I find myself somewhat lukewarm on the whole restart issue. I mean, is there
a good reason to restart other than "it seems big"? Having 170 items or so
doesn't seem like much of a problem to me, since only three or four are active
at any given time.

Takes too long to search the conference when it gets this big.
I'm for a restart.

The size is an impediment for new people trying to get involved with
things.

Re #4: It's a pain in the ass to someone like me who wants to get up to speed
and finds 100+ items to read through. Restart!

This is probably being discussed elsewhere, but I can't find it right now:
when will the "coop" name be transferred from coop11 to coop12? And will
there be (is there now) an "oldcoop" like there is an "oldagora"?

Thanks, folks.

I've gotten everything linked to coop12 (which you can join right now). Later
tonight [i] will fix things so that the default to "coop" is coop12 instead
of coop11. I don't think there is an "oldcoop" alias, but there is a
reference to the previous coop being coop11.

(there's been an "oldcoop" alias at times. it pribly wouldn't hurt to
have one this time around,too.)

After the restart will coop6 still be accessible by typing "join coop6"?
I don't know how to access coops 1 through 5.

response 17 of 18: Mark Unseen   Apr 25 01:57 UTC 2001

After i complete the coop11/coop12 roll, coop11 will answer to the name
"oldcoop" (or coop11, or oldco-op), coop12 will be called "coop" (or...),
etc. The first 5 coops aren't anywhere that i can find them - we'd have
to find someone with old copies, etc., etc. to make them available.

Okay, the roll-over is done. Coop12 is now the default coop cf.
