MFM hard drive/floppy drive controller cards
|
Jul 8 21:37 UTC 1996 |
These computer cards were donated to Grex by Dominant Systems
of Ann Arbor. I haven't tested any of them, and don't know
whether they work or not.
Minimum bid $2 per card...buy a couple to increase the odds of
getting one that works! You can pick them up at my place (SE
Ann Arbor) or at a board meeting, but if you need them shipped,
add an extra $4 per order when you send a check.
Twelve (12) MFM hard drive/floppy drive controller cards

To avoid the maintenance nightmare of the computer book item,
we're putting each type of card in a different item.

Dunno, Fred, but you could probably get one or two really cheaply and see if
it works.
All 12 cards are still available for bidding....

Good question. There seem to be both 8-bit and 16-bit cards. The 8-bit
cards should work in any PC. Note that these are MFM hard drive controllers,
which connect to old-style MFM hard drives, not newer IDE hard drives.

Am I remembering right that if there are both IDE and MFM controllers in the
same computer at the same time, only one can work?

Never tried it, but it seems exceedingly likely that you can't use both.
