Subject: Especially for You
Dear Lord:
Every evening
As I'm lying here in bed
This tiny little prayer
Keeps running through my head.
God bless my mom and dad
And bless my little pup
And look out for my sister
When things aren't looking up.
And God, there's one more thing
I wish that you could do
Hope you don't mind me asking
But please bless my computer too?
Now I know that's not normal
To bless a mother board
But just listen a second
While I explain to you 'My Lord'.
You see, that little metal box
Holds more to me than odds & ends
Inside those small compartments
Rest a hundred of my 'BEST FRIENDS'.
I know for sure they like me
By the kindness that they give
And this little scrap of metal
Is how I travel to where they live.
By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you
I share in what life brings them
From that our friendship grew.
PLEASE, Take an extra minute
From your duties up above
To bless this scrap of metal
That's filled with so much love!
Please send this poem to all of your on-line friends to show how much
you care! Also, make sure you send it back to whomever sent it to you
because obviously they care about you and you are their friend. If you
are their friend, send it back!
Keep this poem going!
"Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God."

How schmaltzy does a prayer have to be before God's net glory for it
falls into the negative column?

this one's actually not so bad...
Nice enough sentiment. I wrote a poem in this spirit back when MLady died...

YHVH is a vengeful god, and He does not like schmaltzy prayers.
Remember what happened to Cain?

I don't believe Lot's wife was turned to salt because she didn't pray right.

I thought it was because Lot's soup was somewhat lacking ...

(Lot's wife wasn't turned to salt - if he and his wife even existed. You
know, conservation of atomic species, and limits on elemental transmutations,
and all that.)

I think it is you, brighn, who should lighten up. It is hilarious how
those old tribal guys invented amusing stories. I guess I will have to
add humor emoticons because of your totally humorless mind.

She was turned into an old salt, and Lot was understadably distressed
to find himself wed to the Van DeKamps fisherman.

Just add humor emoticons. It's netiquette.
And if you think I lack humor, you haven't been reading. After all, I spent
all that time talking to you about spirituality. =}
(Barbs aside, dude, you're all right. A little too serious, but certainly a
better debate partner than most anyone on here. Well, except Jazz.)

we're seriously fighting. ;} )
