granger comments on truman show

when i saw it at the theater i loved it
recently i saw it on video and have the following comments

these elements made the film brilliant

the music
jim carrey
the little clues of reality
the way he was being trapped

mainly the music, like when he went to stop the bus

the girl, not the blond his wife but the one that he stole the kiss from
she was good too

the guy that played the best friend was awful
but i think that was the intention, that here are these other people on the
truman show that are just bad

overall thou i really love this film

same screen play writer as gattica

gattica was great because . . .

ethan hawke
music
the theme of genetics
the doctor
one of the lines, "if he exceeds his potential we have not accurately
measured his potential"
thescene where the sun comes up
his relationship with jerome was awsome, like you felt the friendship

the part where they have the swim off and eh says "i never saved anything
for the trip back"

Okay, Gattica sucked because it was a cheap "Brave New World" rip off, and
I'm sorry, but neither Ethan Hawke nor Uma Thurman showed any emotion,
character, or acting talent. And I normally like Ethan Hawke. And what
relationship with Jerome? They hated each other. Jerome hated him because
of his accident. That he was being replaced. It was his choice, but he still
resented him for it.

Truman Show, however, was a great movie. It was beautiful how they explored
what parts of your life make it real, and how you interact with your life.
I thought the best friend was amazing. When he had to sit there and tell
Truman that he would never lie to him, and he knew it was a lie and didn't
want to tell him, that was beautiful. Ed Harris was great as the director
who didn't get it, didn't understand how is manufactured existance wouldn't
suffice. Absloutly Brilliant.

Don't you believe in commenting about movies in the movies item?

I may be the only one on earth who thinks this, but I thought the Truman Show
was at best only slightly better than mediocre. Carrey just isn't that good
of an actor. Yeah, it was fun, but so was Charlie's Angels. And I don't see
anyone bitching 'cause Lucy Liu wasn't nominated for an Oscar. Yet.

And Gattaca sucked rocks.

Didn't much care for "The Truman Show" myself. I enjoyed "Gattaca"
