Signs and portents.

Then there was the time down in Muscadine, Iowa - the musk melon home -
where there was an election going on and the sign said "Hicks for
Sheriff" and I thought to me self, 'yeah, but who are the candidates'.
And then in what obviously was a recently bulldozed corn field there was
a sign saying 'Lots for Sale' - lots of what? Dirt and sticks with
little red flags stapled to them? And then there are phrases like "I
got on the plane" - excuse me? I prefer to ride *in* it. And if you
have flown much consider the phrase 'Water landing' - is there such?
" 'Whats new?' 'Pi over lambda last I knew, its sort of a constant' "

For what it's worth, David Thomas Roberts wrote a piano solo
called "Muscatine" in honor of the town. It *does* have the
Mississippi River, eagles hang out there part of the year,
and there's a charming old hotel too.
I also say "I got on the plane." But then, I hail from a hick
town in Indiana.

Re #0: There's a seaplane here that makes water landings on a regular basis.
If you mean the landing of a *land* plan on water, well, yes, "water
landing" is a euphemism. The most common term I've seen is "ditching."

"Landing" is "touching land". How do you touch land on water?

You carry a small vial onboard, and open it and stick your finger in when the
plane comes to rest.

They are waterings. Sometimes the landing is under water.

"This film has been edited from its original version. It has been
formatted to fit your screen."
And just HOW did someone know the size of MY screen? Hm?

Perhaps they couldn't know the size, but they could make a pretty
good guess at the shape.

Mr. Edison made a pretty big decision when he made the movie
screen 4 long by 3 tall.
Now, if he only would have written his notes on 3x5 cards....

If you want to "get in" the plane do you have to make yourself
two (or fewer) dimensional?

(nu is c over lambda, not pi over lambda.)
