Invitation to Punditry Mark Unseen   Oct 19 21:13 UTC 2000

            Practice Punditry! Predict the Election!

Win Nominal Prizes and Fleeting Acclaim Among Local Politicos!

If you already know how the election will turn out, here's your chance
to demonstrate your prescience to us all. Simply indicate the winners
in each of the races below, and send it in. Only one entry per person,
please. All entries must be delivered by postal mail or email by
Election Eve, Monday, November 6, to Lawrence Kestenbaum, P.O. Box
2563, Ann Arbor, MI 48106, or polygon@potifos.com. If you're going to
print this out and mail it in, you might prefer the HTML version,
http://www.potifos.com/pundit.html

Scoring: one point for getting a result correct. One additional point
if you were right and the majority of entrants were wrong. And a
third point if you were the ONLY one to call that race correctly.
Some of the races are handicapped by doubling the underdog's vote.
Questions marked with ****'s score four times the other questions.
Individual states in Part 3 score one-quarter the value of the other
questions. Highest point total wins in each category, based on the
best information available on Wednesday evening, November 9.

Prizes and acclaim will be awarded as follows: (1) The "Presidential
Prognosticator Prize" for the best entry on the presidential race.
(2) The "Michigan Maven Medal" for the best entry on Michigan
statewide races. (3) The "Washtenaw Wonder Wreath" for the best entry
on county and local races. (4) And finally, the coveted "Pundit of
the Year Award" (including a gift certificate to a local restaurant)
for the best entry overall.

Winners will be announced at the Kestenbaum for County Commission
post-election fundraising party, which will be held starting at 7:00
pm, Wednesday, November 9, at the Democratic Coordinated Campaign HQ,
325 E. Liberty St., Ann Arbor. Entering is FREE; you need not be
present to win; you need not donate to attend. Feel free to copy and
distribute this flyer to other interested persons.
