Party Process Killed.

I demand Grex rid itself of this malicious party channel.
49 responses total.

#1 of 49 by willcome on Wed Dec 10 04:16:25 2003:

#coding is ungrexlike. It invasively runs arbitrary code to kill the party
processes of any 'unworthy' user who joins. We don't allow private
conferences, except staff. We do allow private party channels through the
:close command, but that remains within the bounds of party. #coding, on
the other hand, goes beyond that, forcing unwitting users to run malicious
arbitrary code.

Re. 2: do you inform people BEFORE they join that it'll run malicious
arbitrary code of your choice? Nope. I call that invasive. And don't
pretend you're not malicious. Why else would you get your party 'bot --
something which, by the way, is against Grex's rules -- to say "<srihai sneaks
out at 1 a.m. to visit willcome>"? Why do you resort to threats instead of
addressing the complaints? I think I know why: You know you're wrong.

I hope the Grex membership is as upset as I am that their monies are being
used to finance the exclusive club of a few vulgar, malicious users.

"ryan: willcome has sand in his vagina"

I'm not sure why Grex allows staff members to harass users who bring up
complaints about their actions.

I'm not sure why Grex allows staff members to respond with lies and slanders
to users who bring up valid complaints. Furthermore, it is unreasonable to
silence a user simply because of his history; even if I did the things ryan
suggested I did -- which I didn't -- my complaints are valid. The request
to have this item killed is absurd.

#20 of 49 by albaugh on Wed Dec 10 06:02:22 2003:

That whole "I've been wounded" whine is absurd.

#21 of 49 by willcome on Wed Dec 10 08:40:04 2003:

Re. 20: Grex has been wounded. With the malicious #coding and ryan's
harassment 'bot, party's no longer a friendly place.

(By the way, anyone can enter #coding. Enter party, temporarily run the
maximum number of processes, join #coding, set your party filter to "", and
kill the temporary processes.)

Jlamb: The reason "bouncer" doesn't re-spawn party (which I originally
wanted it to do) is because there isn't any way for me to cleanly
accomplish this. Once the party process is killed the filter is also
killed since it's a child of the party process.

Willcome a.k.a P'tarp; such a sad, lonely boy. It would be great if
the adults in your real life paid more attention to you in a positive
way. Try getting involved in some of your real life school
groups/activities--it might be a good thing for you. You have many
gifts, please start learning to use them wisely. Please start learning
to *cooperate rather than compete* because (you aren't very good at it)
and you might find life less frustrating and more enjoyable.

Party Process Killed.

It looks like ryan's purposely destroying the system just to keep people out
of #coding.

#35 of 49 by mynxcat on Fri Dec 12 00:26:43 2003:

FWIW - I do find it annoying that it kills the party process when I try to
enter. I think a simple "Sorry, you cannot enter" would suffice, like the
other closed channels.

#36 of 49 by naftee on Fri Dec 12 05:14:10 2003:

Yeah, jimj is too stupid to figure out how to do that.

#37 of 49 by scg on Wed Dec 17 17:04:41 2003:

Srihai is entertaining, and doesn't run code as anybody else.

Running code that hasn't been reviewed by staff as another user, even if done
by tricking the user into running it themselves, has been a no no on Grex for
years. Ryan has been told by staff to remove his party bouncer before.

#38 of 49 by willcome on Wed Dec 17 19:42:48 2003:

See? I was right all along.

#39 of 49 by jimj on Thu Dec 18 03:14:33 2003:

First off, before Ryan gets into trouble it isn't his bouncer, it is mine.
The code was compiled source (which was world readable). Now the code
is a perl script which is equally readable and can't fall into the
argument of the source that I had readable being a decoy for the real
source. Anyway the bouncer has been removed for almost a week now so
this whole discussion is moot.

Can you re-phrase your second-last sentence? George Orwell would turn in his
grave if someone read it aloud.
