Grex Oldcoop Conference

Item 351: Conference Proposal: Business

Entered by slynne on Fri Aug 11 17:17:41 2006:

furs and I were thinking that it might be fun to have a business
conference where we could talk about corporations, business, labor
issues, economics, and other things related to business in the world.
We would like to be the fw's of such a conference.

I know that grex already has a finance conference and while we would
like to talk about finance sometimes, our scope would be broader than
that. Ditto the small business conference. We might want to talk about
small businesses sometimes but would prefer a larger scope.

Anyone insterested?

I think in the spirit of things you should just perform a hostile
 takeover on an existing conference.

if it's you two FWing, you might as well call it the "tits" conference

#4 of 33 by nharmon on Fri Aug 11 19:08:23 2006:

Well, why not rename the small business conference?

#5 of 33 by naftee on Fri Aug 11 19:12:01 2006:

big tits in small businesses ? you're confusing

#6 of 33 by furs on Fri Aug 11 20:18:18 2006:

The big tits business conference works for me.

I'm fine with renaming a conference, if the small business conf is
dead or has a non existent fw.

#7 of 33 by tod on Fri Aug 11 21:13:55 2006:

Which of you runs small business?

#8 of 33 by eprom on Fri Aug 11 22:01:57 2006:

I vote yes

#9 of 33 by slynne on Fri Aug 11 22:07:09 2006:

I like the idea of renaming the small business conference and adding us
as FW. I dont think it is particularly active as a conference

#10 of 33 by mcnally on Fri Aug 11 22:53:29 2006:

 hostile takeover!

#11 of 33 by tod on Fri Aug 11 23:13:08 2006:

Insurgency

#12 of 33 by furs on Fri Aug 11 23:46:26 2006:

Maybe just call it the Business conference which would handle any size
business?

#13 of 33 by mcnally on Fri Aug 11 23:59:15 2006:

 And alias to "bidness"..

lol, I second Mike's suggestion to alias to "bidness"

#16 of 33 by cmcgee on Sat Aug 12 13:58:00 2006:

I'm the remaining small business conf fw. If you folks want to use that, and
be added as fws, I'm delighted. We could call it business, large and small.

#17 of 33 by nharmon on Sat Aug 12 13:59:32 2006:

...Bidness, large and small.

#18 of 33 by naftee on Sat Aug 12 15:19:18 2006:

I'm confident that I can handle large sizes.

#19 of 33 by slynne on Sat Aug 12 16:19:16 2006:

resp:16 Thanks cmcgee! I think that would probably be the best option.

#20 of 33 by tod on Sun Aug 13 04:25:58 2006:

"Keeping Abreast on Bidness"

#21 of 33 by furs on Sun Aug 13 15:52:40 2006:

I agree with cmcgee and slynne. :)

(thanks cmcgee!)

#22 of 33 by cmcgee on Sun Aug 13 19:42:32 2006:

Would someone please add slynne and furs as fws for the smallbusiness conf?

#23 of 33 by tod on Sun Aug 13 21:32:49 2006:

And add tod as fw for the parenting cf?

#24 of 33 by nharmon on Mon Aug 14 02:59:45 2006:

And add nharmon as fw for the vomit cf?

#25 of 33 by remmers on Mon Aug 14 20:37:34 2006:

(I'd suggest emailing cfadm with those fw requests.)

#26 of 33 by furs on Mon Aug 14 22:56:48 2006:

I thought you requested these kind of things here?

#27 of 33 by slynne on Tue Aug 15 01:30:03 2006:

me too.

#28 of 33 by i on Tue Aug 15 03:59:02 2006:

Generally, adding (a) fw(s) to or changing the subject of an existing cf
should start with clearly proposing the changes in the affected cf, so
the users can discuss the ideas, give feedback, etc. If favorably
received there after a week or so, then i'd be inclined to act favorably
on a formal request to go ahead with the changes.

Yes, i know that cmcgee is a fw of smallbusiness, and that cf hasn't been
overly active of late, but i don't see any reason to bypass the usual
"local democracy" procedures. In any case, anyone can start discussing
big business in the smallbusiness cf if they wish, and that might be a
good contribution to making the decision.

#29 of 33 by slynne on Tue Aug 15 21:40:04 2006:

Fair enough.

#30 of 33 by scholar on Wed Aug 16 00:03:47 2006:

yay!

#31 of 33 by cmcgee on Thu Aug 17 12:56:29 2006:

Ok, we're talking over in small business.

#32 of 33 by cmcgee on Wed Aug 30 22:44:54 2006:

It's been a full 15 days, with several comments, all positive, over in the
small business conference.

Let's do it!

[change the name of the conference to Business, and add furs and slynne as
co-fws with me]

#33 of 33 by slynne on Thu Aug 31 02:45:24 2006:

Yay!
