i can make better design for this grex website. i 'll do it for free if you dont mind.for my promotion. i need a job here...34 responses total.
I dont doubt that our web site could use a redesign. But since we are a volunteer organization, we have never hired anyone for that work. Am I to take it that you are offering to do the site as a volunteer?
How about a Grex website design contest? Then the membership can vote for the winner. It'll be strictly voluntary...with the prize being, say, a free year's membership?
I like the idea of a contest actually. It could be fun.
Best spyware designer award goes to Ivan Davidovitch!
re 1 - slynne, quoted from #0 "i 'll do it for free" sounds like a volunteer to me!
I'll participate in a design contest. Just be sure to clearly set out the rules and specifications.
Grex has no paid staff members. Resp:0 looks to me like the gentleman is looking for a (paying) job and is offering to demonstrate his skills.
I think a contest is a good idea. Just the HTML on grex's home pages is woefully out of date.
re 7 - it looks to me like he's looking for a paying job, but not from Grex, he wants to use Grex to demonstrate his skill in order to get a paying job elsewhere. I'm not sure what part of "I'll do it for free" confused people.
"It"
I havent published the board meeting minutes yet but the board voted to hold a web site design contest. I am in charge. I will be posting details soon.
Any word on granting a license to use the Grex logo on Wikipedia?
unlucky
resp:12 Oh shoot. I forgot to bring that up.
Its okay. Next time! :-)
re. 12: wikipedia will no longer use images that are specifically licensed to it. the image either has to be in the public domain or released under one of a number of free licenses. since this would mean pretty much anyone could use grex's logo for pretty much anything they wanted, it's probably not a good idea.
Wikipedia allows images that are copyrighted if they are used in a way that conforms to fair use. This includes logos of companies. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Logos I just thought it would be polite to ask the Grex BoD first.
"Generally, logos should be used only when the company and its logo are reasonably familiar (or when the logo itself is of interest for design or artistic reasons)", and so it fails the fair use test.
You don't think the Grex logo is reasonably familiar to those familiar with Grex?
Probably not to most of them, but it's talking about the general public, not the Grex public.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:MCCClogo.gif Is the logo of some small community college in Monroe, Michigan reasonably familiar to the general public?
Anyway, I feel that Grex's logo would meet Wikipedia's guidelines. If I am wrong, it most likely will get deleted.
I imagine that grex's logo would meet Wikipedia's guidelines too
Re. 21: The image violates Wikipedia's policies because it contains a slogan when a version without a slogan is also available. However, note that Wikipedia's image policies concerning fair use of institutions of higher learning and corporations differ.
In any case, the image is unlikely to be deleted, but unless Cyberspace Inc.
releases it to the public domain or under some sort of free license, it
definitely violates Wikipedia policy on fair-use. But I won't do anything
nasty like go out of my way to post {{copyvio}} on it or nominate it for
deletion or whatever. Instead, I'll give you a tip: even though Wikipedia
generally recommends uploading images to Wikipedia Commons, they don't
actually accept fair-use images, and so the logo will stand less of a chance
of being deleted if you just post it on en.
IF IT"S DELETED< YOU SHOULD UPLOAD A PICTURE OF YOUR PENIS>< I WOULD< BUT I"M BANNED FROM WIKIMEDIA COMMONS
I fully intend to upload a picture of my penis.

Regarding #27; What, all two inches? Small jpeg.

Like I said; all two inches?
