I would like to propose a conference to be called elect2003 to be a place for general discussion for candidates to discuss platforms and policies without cluttering up the coop conference. I think this conference should become a yearly fixture of Grex elections and should have the alias "election" pointing at the current year. For those of you unaware, M-Net has had a similar yearly election conference and it is, obviously, the source of my idea. Also, due to the fact the election is rapidly approaching, is it possible or necessary to bypass the standard procedure of waiting a week for discussion on this conference? Finally, I am not volunteering to FW this conference as I am currently a candidate. It should probably be FW'd by the election administrators. (The mechanism for running an election is exceptionally vague.) Please discuss.12 responses total.
Wouldn't it be better for the candidates to create items in agora? More people will read them there.
Yeah, I'm not worried about "cluttering up" anything. Clutter is Grex's stock and trade.
If this conference *is* created, I'd like to see an 'election' alias that always points to the most recent one, sort of like the 'agora' and 'oldagora' aliases. That way people could add 'election' to their cflist and not have to join each new election conference manually.

I don't really care that much one way or the other, but a separate conference for a once-a-year event doesn't sound like a good idea. The current election will get linked to agora and/or coop anyway, thus so much for the idea of less clutter.
I think that the coop items are sufficient if they are linked to agora. People can "forget" them if they like, and there is no need to open a new conf every year.
Most folks already pass through at least agora and coop. I agree with cmcgee that holding election discussions in coop and linking to agora should be sufficient.

Keep in mind also, the part of the stated purpose of the coop conference is discussion of the governance of Grex.
Which is a strong argument against bunches of other confs on the same topic.
Coop is where it belongs. Admittedly, this is Grex, and that's never been a very powerful argument here.
