(better late than never, right?)
Attending Board Members: Slynne, Aruba, Polygon, Gelinas, Mary, Mooncat
Non-Board Members- Remmers, a visitor
1. Opening Gavel: 7:11pm.
2. Welcome new board members
3. Treasurer s Report: In November we took in $207, $375 out. In
December we took in $294 as of the meeting date. There were 70 members,
67 paid up. Winter taxes will be about $30.
4. Staff Report- Next Grex.
a. Gelinas ran a reap, restarted newuser to a new group. Haven t
been cleaning disks, mostly reap is keeping the disks open enough.
b. No Next Grex news (1/3 update- since we re on Next Grex I would
say there has since been activity)
c. Why we ve been experiencing down time from internet connection-
seems to be something in the building wiring. Moving to co-lo would
then fix the problem.
d. Donated modem needs a firm warm update- kip is currently out of
contact.
5. Co-location- with Provide.net
a. They will monitor our bandwidth usage from time to time; if we
are consistently over our allotted amount they ll chat with us to set
up the increase to the next incremental cost level.
b. So far, from all info gathered (see Gelinas item on the
subject in coop) there doesn t appear to be a downside.
c. What followed was much discussion, most of which has been said
in coop by the posting of these minutes- people seem very civilized,
could have modems, UPS on rack will last for 30 seconds, enough time
for their generator to kick in, deal does not hinge on Next Grex, we
would leave many problematic elements behind.
d. Phone conversation with tech at provide.net regarding allotted
bandwidth per month- how does that break down based on what Grex is
currently using.
Motion by Aruba, seconded by Polygon: Prepare Grex to move to
Provide.net by February 1, 2005.
Ayes: 6, No: 0, Absent: 1
6. Schedule next meeting: place- at Slynne s provided there is
only one board member phoning in, if there are two the meeting will be
at Dave Cahill s. The new board will decide the date and time via e-
mail.
7. Treasurer s Job: discussion to create a list of tasks the
treasurer does, could the job be broken up between multiple people?
Will be necessary to lose the expectation that the monthly reports will
be posted by day 1 of the month.
-exit Polygon
More discussion.
8. Closing Gavel: 8:35(ish)

FYI- I think we can use PF to limit the amount of bandwidth grex can possibly use, so we can force our traffic to stay within our allotment.
Suggestions on how to do so would be welcome. I think there is an item for the discussion of pf in garage.
I'll see if I can find some information when I get some spare time. Leave is over and I'm back in the grind. :-(
It's item 154 in garage.
Thanks.
Thanks to Mooncat who has finished her final term as grex's secretary. These are her last minutes. She has done a good job posting these reports for the last four years :)
Very true! Thanks Anne, for doing a great job as secretary.
I agree that Anne HAS done a great job these last four years. ;)
Thanks Anne, great job.
Thanks, Anne!
I think you'd have to have been at some of the meetings to understand how very good Anne is at minutes. She's a listener. I was there too but it wasn't until the minutes that I got the overview right. We'll miss you, Anne.
She's a what?
<blushes> Thanks everyone, I was glad to serve as secretary for three years during my four years on the board. ;)
