Everyone knows /etc/passwd files are dangerous. That's why gelinas was so helpfully deleting them from Grex. But now, apparently, he's not going to do that: #17 of 18: by Joseph L Gelinas (gelinas) on Mon, Mar 29, 2004 (20:46): If polytarp wants to compromise his machines' security, that is his problem. So long as he does not solicit others to compromise other machines. What kind of community spirit is this? As part of the Internet community, Grex has an obligation to aid in the securing of not ONLY its systems, but other people's, as well.8 responses total.
I don't think you understand our policy here. You apparently expect we have some sort of hard & fast rulebook that says "person X does Y, gets punishment Z". This isn't in fact true. What we actually expect is that people will behave as adults. This actually works most of the time. For people who don't behave as adults, we have a small number of tried & true remedies, which we usually try first, and which work about 98% of the time. After that, it's up to the discretion of the staff person involved. At this point, I'd say gelinas deserves commendation for the considerable patience he's displayed in dealing with your antics. He must like children, is all I can say. If you can think of a better strategy we might use with you, we're all ears. Unfortunately, our budget doesn't cover sending the spanish inquisition into your area, so you'll need to keep costs, time & effort down.
Oh, I don't know about the Spanish inquisition. Staci and a group of her friends want to do a road trip when school gets out...
ROAD TRIP!
I'll loan her my police handcuffs and some sturdy rope... ;)
I've heard a stint in the Spanish Chair can be convincing. Call 1-800-HURTPOLYTWERP
