Item 149: Free speech

Entered by radiant on Sat Mar 13 17:21:51 2004:

My account, rational, has been splatted. gelinas -- not staff -- has done
this to dozens of my accounts. No-one's quite sure what this is supposed to
accomplish, let alone how it's supposed to do this, but it's fairly obviously
failing since it's being repeated continually with no apparent effect other
than being slightly annoying.

When is Grex going to stand up and justify its Grex freedom ribbon by stopping
the abridgement of free speech?

Radiant, eh?

Go and irradiate yourself, then.

Why do we need proof of the ill intent of each individual login
before locking it when the person behind them is willingly,
repeatedly and unwaveringly showing himself to be an utter
sociopath?

Why are you wasting time responding, Eric?

I think you'll find we have the proof already.

Dave slipped.

Re. 2: ill intent doesn't mean anyone should lock the account, and
sociopathy, which who knows if it exists here, doesn't mean ill intent. SO,,
What are you talking about? Do you have any sorts of reasoning?

#3: Good question. ;)

It was me, via STeve this time, not gelinas. (Got to get my root account set
up.) You keep doing stupid things, we will keep disabling accounts. Act like
a reasonable human being and we will leave you alone.

If it's not an impertinent question, what's wrong with your root?

I haven't been given the root password yet. Life at the Andre' household has
been rather hectic of late. Between spending entirely too much time at UofM
ER, my class schedule, STeve (who will help me set things up) spending too
much time figthing Windows problems at work, and my changing jobs at WCC (I
am no longer working as a TA and in the computer lab, I am now Tech Support
for the Computer Security Program) there hasn't been time to sit down and go
over what I need to know and do. Hopefully this weekend or next.

Ahhh.

Re. 8: speaking of being reasonable, do you have any idea why you're disabling
accounts? What's the aim, and how's disabling accounts going to get you
there? Surely, if you're a reasonable person, you know these things?
