We attended a performance of Measure for Measure by the Globe Theatre troupe, at the St. Ann's Warehouse theater in New York, and have been inspired to find a good CD of Elizabethan music (and song) with original (or copies thereof) instrumentatiion. The Globe Theatre troupe sells such CDs, but they are costly including international mailing. Can anyone suggest what they consider some best CDs of such music?
Philip Pickett had a CD which was titled "Shakespeare's Musick;" I thought this was fairly common in the used CD market, but the only seller on Amazon.com is asking $48 for a copy, which probably makes the CDs from the Globe troupe look reasonably priced. Another Pickett album, "Shakespeare at Covent Garden," is much more reasonably priced around $6. Searching Amazon.com's classical music section for "Shakespeare" turns up many CDs, none of which I am familiar with.
