I'll be competing again in the annual World Championship Old-Time Piano
Playing Contest. Weekend of May 23-25 at the Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria,
Illinois. In old-time costume, of course. I've got my six selections pretty
much picked out and am getting them into shape for the competition.

The weekend will offer lots of old-timey music, afterglow parties, seminars.
Y'all come! See http://www.oldtimepiano.com for details.

For those attending Penguicon May 2-4, I'll be one of the DJ's on Radio-
Free Fandom. I don't know the exact time, but it'll be during the
evening hours. I'll be spinning a selection of celtic instrumentals.

And if your into OTR (old-time radio), my bud John will be running his
show, The Glowing Dial, which was heard on C-band. He'll be playing
various sci-fi radio shows from back in the 40's/50's.

Feel free to stop by and say "Hi!" See the program book for the radio
freq.

(I could get into the 40's/50's sci-fi radio shows. "Space Patrol."
"Tom Corbett, Space Cadet." etc.)

Are you no longer a trio?

#16 of 21 by scott on Thu May 15 19:34:59 2003:

For some reason we have to be at least a quartet to get gigs like this,
so yeah, we're now a "group" and have a percussionist.

I announced this before, but the event is imminent, so I'll repeat
myself. I'm a contestant in World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing
Contest. It's being held this weekend, May 23-25, at the historic
Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria, Illinois. See http://www.oldtimepiano.com
for details. I'll be performing two numbers at an as-yet-to-be-determined
time on Saturday, and, if I'm fortunate enough to make the semifinals
(top 10 contestants), two on Sunday and, if I make it to the finals
(top 5 contestants), two more on Sunday as well. Last year I made the
semifinals; we shall see how it goes this time around.

If you have any liking for this type of music and can make it to
Peoria, it should be a fun weekend. A number of wonderful performers
are competing, and in addition there are seminars and after-hours jam
sessions. I'll pay the admission of any Grexer who shows up and makes
their presence known to me at the event.

I guess you'll get to answer for yourself whether it plays in Peoria... ;-)
