re #1: Where is the Crazy Wisdom Tea Room?
Main St. between Huron and Washington.
they used to be on 4th, and then they moved, better location I guess, with the tea room upstairs.
I'll be appearing this Friday, Feb. 9, with the Nick Strange Trio at Gotham City in Ann Arbor. This is one of the clubs in the "Cavern Club" complex on First. I'll also be appear in the Nick Strange Duo at Crazy Wisdom Tea Room (upstairs from their bookstore on Main) Saturday, Feb 17.
WHat times, Scott?
Oh, um, typical bar bard hours at Gotham City, around 10:30-, and then I think it's 8:30-10:30 at the tea room.
Thanks. We might go see katie at Crazy Wisdom and then wander over there afterward.
i did exactly that. enjoyed both.
Hmm, I wonder which of the people at Katie's gig was jor. (Nice show, Katie!)
A small sample of my piano playing can be heard on the web at URL http://www.msu.edu/~plichtab/real/click.html -- I'm doing the accompaniment for the "Linguist List Fund Drive Song", sung by the Linguist List crew. The music accompanies a slide show. You need Real Audio to hear the music. (I've been doing software development for the organization for the past several years; this is my first musical contribution on their behalf.)
I will again sing harmony for Melanie when she appears in Ann Arbor May 4; I also will sing with her Apr 27 in Fort Wayne Ind and I sang with her last July in Duluth, MN. I sing harmony on 5 cuts of her forthcoming CD, which has no title yet.

opps, I just found out I'm singing with Melanie next Sat in FLA. I hope to sing "Loving Arms" with Livingston Taylor, as usual, when he appears at The Ark Apr 14.
On May 23rd, the Life Sciences Orchestra of the University of Michigan (I play cello) will present a concert at Hill auditorium. On the program is Rossini's Overture to the Barber of Seville, Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 19 in F, and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.
That's a good program. I'd go, if I weren't 2000 miles away. What's your take on the Shostakovich, as a cellist?
It's a challenging piece. It makes a number of hairpin turns through three clefs, with some very exposed passages taking place in the highest of the cello's range. But the music is amazing, simply amazing.
I will be participating in Arbor Opera Theater's concert "A Grand Night for Singing" on Saturday night, March 24 at 8 PM. I will be contributing two Gershwin songs to the mostly pop program (musicals, operettas, etc.). The site is Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1500 Scio Church Rd, and admission is free. Also: I announced a solo recital for March 20 in both the Observer and the Current. Unfortunately, I have had to cancel the recital, so if you read about it and planned to come, please don't. I will be scheduling another recital in Ann Arbor for sometime in May. I will be performing my master's degree recital up at MSU on April 11, as planned.
