This item, crosslinked between the Agora and Music conferences, is for Grexers to announce their upcoming artistic performances. If you are shy and don't want Grexers to show up, you can announce the performance after it has happened.34 responses total.
i would like to see more heavy metal/punk/heavy rock fans on here
we'll go get you some
Hey, we're here...
yes we are. <searching for her safetypins and punky color>
Last Saturday I played at the Clinton Fall Festival; jep was there (no grexer-spotting item, yet). We were s'posed to play for an hour, but the act after us didn't show up, so we played another hour. Nov 17 I will open for Don White in Ann Arbor, and November 24 I will headline at Green Wood.
I wondered why you said at the start that you only had an hour, but then sang for two hours! I was pleased, of course. I heard a lot of songs I hadn't heard you sing before. I was disappointed you don't have a new album yet. My 4 year old son John wants to join the Usual Suspects. (-: (I don't recommend him; his voice is okay for a 4 year old, but he usually sings songs he makes up on the spot.) Also: I heard people in the crowd saying nice things about you, such as "She has a terrific voice." It was a darned small crowd, but an appreciative one.
New album is half-done; alas, it's mostly folk-gospel. But we're already ready to start # 3; have more than enough songs. That one will likely be done in January.
But when will we see it? I mean, I want new music!
Two new albums in the next few months? That sounds good to me! Thanks for the news!
Leslie/arabella is singing in the following program:

I'll be playing with the Nick Strange Trio this coming Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Bab's Liberty St. Piano Bar. Probably 10:15-12:15 or so.
aite asked me to post that she and the band will be on Folks Like Us today (Saturday) from 1-2, live. Then tomorrow (Sunday) she'll be on Kerry Carlsson's show on 106.7 at 9:30 AM, also live.
Sorry, my typing was bad this morning, and I was in a hurry. That first word was supposed to be "Katie", and Folks Like Us is on WDET, 101.9 FM.
rats, missed Nick Strange
There are more gigs coming up in Ann Arbor. See http://www.nickstrange.com for more info. There's another Bab's gig in mid-December, TC's Speakeasy in early December, and a duo gig (just me and Dan) at the Crazy Wisdom bookstore tearoom on the 16th of Dec.
I'll be heading out the the West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento, CA later this week, where I expect to be doing my usual piano-playing at after hours. Perhaps I will spot a west coast grexer or two as well.
Had my photo taken in the dressing room with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter by a photographer for a national industry magazine called Pollstar (pollstar.com). I thumbed through a copy and noticed a section with shots of performers with various production staff people at venues and concerts...
.... and you found remmers?
Tues Nov 21, 5 pm, radio appearance on WXOU, 88.1 or 88.3 FM, I forget which. Oakland Univ. station. Also, maybe on "Over Easy" this Sat or Sun on WCSX 94.7 FM. All this becasue we open for Don White on Nov 17 and have our own show on Nov. 24.
Incidentally, pictures of me playing an electronic keyboard can be viewed at http://www.jremmers.org/piano/
I've been practicing Beethoven's 7th Symphony for a January performance with the Life Sciences Orchestra. The cellos own the second movement. ;-)
Saturday the 2nd, in the Chicago Cultural Center, Ravenswood Morris will be performing a few traditional dances sandwiched in between two choral groups. The show starts at 3 pm, and I think we'll be dancing at around 3:30.
B's 7th, my fave!
The 7th is my favorite Beethoven symphony as well.
It doesn't possess the gravity of some of the others, but I've always liked the sixth (Pastoral..)
Katie Geddes and The Usual Suspects Friday Nov 24 at Green Wood Coffee House, 1001 Green Rd, Ann Arbor. 8 pm, $10. Food and drink in abundance. See you there!
At the West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento, CA last weekend, I performed three duo-piano numbers with Nan Bostick: "Peaceful Henry" by Harry Kelly, "Louisiana" by Charles Daniels, and "Pearl of the Harem" by Harry P. Guy. Also performed a few solo pieces at after-hours, including my current pieces-de-resistance, James Scott's "Don't Jazz Me" and Joseph Lamb's "Bee Hive Rag".
The Suspects and I will be live on WXOU (Oakland Univ station) tomorrow (Tues) at 5 pm. It's 88.1 or 88.3 FM, I forget which. Rochester area. Last week we were on WDET, WCSX, and Alice 106.7. We're the Charles Nelson Reilly of Detroit radio!
I just remembered: remmers, there is a "piano bar" opening in downtown Plymouth. I don't have the newspaper article in front of me, but IIRC I'm not sure if ragtime would be a style they would seek a performer for, or not. If you're interested, I'll try to relate more info.
>IWLTA that the group flem and I sing with will be performing near the >Engineering Arch on Saturday, December 9th from 3:00 p.m. 'til whenever. From the "Year end 2000" edition of the Plymouth Community Crier re: "Plymouth Party Time": 336 Main Plymouth's premiere piano bar [my note: its *only* piano bar] will be celebrating the New Year in style. They are busy planning their program, but it will surely include the percussive stylings of one of their talented feature pianists. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be abounding, and the atmosphere is to be lively and fun. 336 Main is located in downtown Plymouth. For reservations or more information, call 459-0885.
Katie Geddes and Mike Fedel at Crazy Wisdom Tea Room Fri Feb 9 8:30 - 10:30 pm. Free admission! See you!
I started a new item for the new Agora, copied in Katie's info, and I will now freeze this version.
