I don't recall the term "butt rock." Clarify.

I like eighties rock, but don't know THAT term. Do clarify.

i hate 80's rock. it is music for
people who are butts. butt rock.

I think it's filed next to prettyboy cheese rock. (Hi senna!)

It's hair bands. Metal. Some really kickbutt stuff. :)

hair bands and metal are cool. :-) prettyboy cheese rock is some of my
favourite kind. Weiss Kruse anyone?

VH1 recently had a thing about the 40 top hair bands of all time. They put
Twisted Sister at #1. Talk about sickos!

#13 of 23 by jules on Thu Jun 7 04:05:28 2001:

yeah i saw that! i couldnt believe it.

#14 of 23 by ashke on Thu Jun 7 04:18:13 2001:

No, if I remember, Twisted Sister was #2, the #1 band was Poison.

It was hosted by Dee Snyder though...I loved every minute of it :)

#15 of 23 by eeyore on Thu Jun 7 11:30:06 2001:

I just thought that some of the bigger bands should have been a bit higher....

#16 of 23 by ashke on Thu Jun 7 14:08:41 2001:

Well, define bigger? Poison, whom I saw in concert 2 times, was big to me.
I like that a lot of my favorite bands of that era were ON there...Did you
expect to see Steelheart? <giggles at this guilty pleasure>

#17 of 23 by eeyore on Fri Jun 8 03:10:23 2001:

I only saw the last 15 or so....but I thought that Def Lepord and Kiss should
have been much higher on the charts.

#18 of 23 by ashke on Fri Jun 8 14:10:46 2001:

Def leppard yeah, since they're my favorite, but is Kiss really a Hair Band?
I always thought of them more as a "classic rock band" You know, Bang Tango,
Faster Pussycat, and Brittney Fox can't EVER call themselves that...

#19 of 23 by eeyore on Sat Jun 9 04:31:42 2001:

They were one of the original Hair Bands.

#20 of 23 by jules on Mon Jun 11 02:29:22 2001:

hello? motley crue, guns and roses...skid row....quite a few bands id put
before twisted sister...

#21 of 23 by eeyore on Mon Jun 11 05:02:26 2001:

Yeah, really. Since they did top 40, I'd put them between 30-40. Sure as
hell not #2

#22 of 23 by ashke on Mon Jun 11 16:29:39 2001:

But we're talking hair, not 80's hair/rock. There is a fine line between
those 3 and rock, even watch VH1's on 1987 talking about how Guns seemed to
be hair, but wasn't.

With the makeup, costumes, and hair, I think TS was fine where it was. The
Crue started out hair, but they were rock after the 2nd album...

Does teh Kelly Family count as a hair band? They've got enough of it.. <g>
