I just heard the most wonderful song, and I don't know who it's by. They kept singing "How can you heartbreak a stranger?" I think. Anyone?7 responses total.
Almost certainly the song "Hearbreak a Stranger" off of Bob Mould's excellent 1989 release "Workbook." Buy it immediately. Trust me on this one..
Ok, I'm going to wazoo when I get paid to buy that, the new crowded house comp, and the usual <any danny elfmann/oingoboingo> that I can find. That was the most exciting random song I'd never heard before on the radio that I've heard in years. Thanks mike! I listened to sugar, in high school and dug them but I never got into mould because of all the other things on my plate, but he, robert fripp and brian eno are always in the back of my head wanting me to take a better listen. I see some bad diction back there but I am too tired right now to backspace. All apologies. Welcome to insomnia.
"Workbook" is definitely the best place to start with Mould's solo career.. Darn, now I've got it going through my head and my copy of the album is over 2000 miles away.. Unfair!
I'd mention napster, if I didn't think I'd get my wrists smacked with a ruler. ;)
I don't currently have a computer at home or a CD-burner at work, so Napster wouldn't do me a whole lot of good..
good to know where ya stand, man.
Did you get the Croweded House Comp? If not, do so immediately. :) (You know, I still am missing two of their albums...hmmm....and I still need to buy the new Tim Finn album....and keep praying for a new Neil Finn album....and....and....and....
