So let's make this Friday a Grex Night Out at Borders Arborland 7pm or so.
Wow, Katie & her gang are getting lots of gigs. Coolness. I'll attend in disguise so that Katie won't know what I look like either.
I just found out that Jamie and Doug will be giving away CDs and tix to the Green Wood show on the Torch and Twang program on Tues, Nov 16, and will play several cuts from our CD.
A great gift indeed, Katie. Thanks once again. (wanders off singing 'She gave me her cd as a present, she gave me her cd as a present").
Update: Fri Dec 3, 7 pm, Borders at Arborland, Ann Arbor; Christmas show; free admission. Sat, Dec 4, 8 pm, Trinity House Theatre, Livonia; Christmas show; $12. Also, we'll be guests on the Over Easy program on WCSX 94.7 FM Saturday morning, in the 10:00 hour. There will be a giveaway of tix to the TH show. (Sorry about the info repeat; this is already in the announcements item in Agora).
Well, the WCSX thing went very well and was very effective. Several people who came to the show Sat night said they came because they heard us on the radio. They hadn't heard us before. Plus I got email from someone who said that she went to Borders and bought all of our CDs that they had (for Xmas gifts) and we'd better restock them there. The most fun part of the radio visit was that after our on-air time (45 min.!) they had us go to the next studio over and record 4 promos for the station. On 2 we sing; on 2 I talk and the guys play in the background. 2 are for the Over Easy program specifically, and 2 are for the station overall. (If anyone hears one played, please let me know. I'm not often in radio range of Detroit).
I missed your recent concerts, Katie. I'm sorry I did. Do you have any new CDs coming out in the near future? Your "Live at Green Wood" CD is probably our favorite overall piece of music; we play it pretty often! It'd be nice (this is the 2nd year I've thought this) to have some Katie Geddes Christmas music, too! (Hint, hint.)
We'll start the next CD in January. And, yes, we're getting lots of requests for a CHristmas album. And a gospel album. We'll see... Hey, come to Green Wood this Sat at 7:30 pm. We're doing a CD release party and show for Mike Fedel's new CD, "I Miss Your Smile." It's a collection of Amy's favorite songs, performed by Mike, me, and several of Amy's little friends. The Usual Suspects and I will do a few songs (including Xmas stuff), as will Mike by himself, and Band of Love. It should be fun.
I think we'll be there. We saw a notice in the AA News, and I think we're going to make it to this one!
The AA News reporter made a pretty significant mistake: the CD release being celebrated, "I Miss Your Smile," is Mike Fedel's, not KG and the US. Also, listen to Mike tomorrow (Fri) morning on Kool 107 (FM 107.1) in the 7:00 hour, on the Lucy Ann Lance program.
Heard him. I plan on being there.
unfortunately, anderyn will not be there, she has no ride at this time.
We went, and were glad we did. It was an unsual concert; a memorial for Mike Fedel's daughter, who was killed in a car accident, and a thank-you to the people who helped the Fedel family while they were dealing with what had happened to them. It was very depressing in the beginning, but then turned cheerful and perky. Katie sang several songs -- thank you, Katie! Mike got everyone to sing the Stevie Wonder song, "As", and encouraged everyone to sing along with other songs -- or dance along, or participate however they wanted to. We had a good time. I think most people did. It wasn't what we thought we'd be going to, but it worked out well. We donated $20 for Mike's CD, but haven't listened to it yet. (If any part of it is as depressing as the depressing part of the concert, it will be a struggle to go through.) Mike Fedel was a co-worker of mine at Arbortext; we were both laid off a few weeks ago in a downsizing. I'll be starting at a new job the Monday after Christmas. I have heard Mike might be accepting a position at the same place. That would be interesting...
Let's see...where will we be? Feb 18, Fri, St Michael's Lutheran CHurch, Canton, Coffee House Concert Feb 19, Sat, 9 pm, Lonely Hearts Club, Ann Arbor, benefit for Ozone House Mar 18, Sat, Mama's Coffee House, Birmingham, opening for Mark Dvorak Apr 1, Sat, Green Wood, benefit for the Appalachian Service Project Apr 25-29 Nashville, TN, various stops including 23rd Psalm Coffee House
Well, Fri night's show at St Michael we had a "first." The crowd got up and started line dancing to "Wayfaring Stranger." They were doing the "Electric Slide," which I believe was called "The Hustle" when I was a kid. I bet no other band has had that happen on that particular song. It was a lot of fun.
Ick. I hate dances like that. Are you sure you didn't get a wedding party or something like that? ;)
There was a wedding rehearsal going on in another room, but the twain didn't meet. (And I don't mean Shania.)
You have several choices:
