For those interested in the industrial/gothic/eletronic scene....my
band Nightside Eclipse will be playing with Backspace and Esion at the Blind
Pig this Thursday in Ann Arbor. Tickets are only 4 dollars!
I also thought that this could be a discussion item about this genre of music.

I guess I will start off the discussion...ummmm I really like the industrial/goth genre. My favorite bands (well, from this genre anyways) are Switchblade Symphony, Alien Sex Fiend, Big Electric Cat, Rosetta Stone, Edera, Siouxie & the Banshees (well, duh!), Children On Stun, Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, Corpus Delicti, Delerium, Elysian Fields, and thats just a few of 'em =)
What does Siouxie & the Banshees sound like? A friend of mine had one of their albums, I think, or a single, but I don't remember it. I'm going to the Stabbing Westward/DM concert tomorrow and am looking forward to hearing what S.W. sounds like-- been told they're like NIN in the style of _Pretty Hate Machine_ with more active rhythm and song mixed in.
Hmmm.. Siouxsie's sound has changed a fair amount over the years. Earlier records are much less polished with more of a new wave-meets- not-too-hardcore-punk kind of sound. Later stuff's a lot different. Over the years, though, she and Budgie have produced some great singles..
Ok, describe the later stuff. The earlier stuff sounds worth checking out.
I'm really not sure how to describe it. It's got a very identifiable element in Siouxsie but the music changes quite a bit from album to album. I'd say that a lot of it's worth checking out. There are couple of singles compilations "Once Upon a Time" (earlier) and "Twice Upon a Time" (later). I actually like the singles on "Twice" better but you may have a different opinion. If you want one of their early-to-mid-eighties albums I'd probably go for Peepshow or A Kiss in the Dreamhouse..
Siouxsie has a great ethereal voice that can growl at times. The music is anything from trance to punk to borderline hip-hop. She's definitely worth a try!
