I've found another way to advertise grex for free. We can have a public
service announcement on Ann Arbor Community Television's AALINC channel.
It consists of a splash page that shows every few minutes to catch the
attention of channel sufers, and then of a series of linked pages viewable
by anyone who calls the station with a touchtone phone.
I've been in touch with the station's assistant manager and she's told me some
of the details. I have an artist working on a splash page featuring Rob's
beautiful logo, and i'm working on pages to display to the curious.
Any objections?
Attached is a note I sent to baff, but since ICNet seems not to be sending
mail to grex for some reason, I doubt they've seen it.

From Carolyn Westbrooks:
>For AALINC the interactive channel 11 simply send me an e-mail of the
>infomation you wish to post. I'll add it to the AALINC data base and then
>send a reply to you with it's mailbox number. People will then see the
>mailbox in the Community search listing when they call AALINC.
I've mailed to Carolyn for more information (number of characters we're
allowed, length of time it will run etc.) but I wanted to check with you that
you are OK with my posting a GREX advert on AALINC.
The advantages, as I see it are:
a)it's free
b)it doesn't require that people call in to the AALINC for
exposure -- as I understand it, the groups with a listing are also
giving a "splash" screen that is shown intermittently along with the
others. That means anyone from Ann Arbor and is surfing the cable
channels has a chance of seeing our splash page. If they are curious,
we can give them a screenful of information about GREX. (Possibly
more.)
c)it's Ann Arbor specific.
d)in my 'research" it has seemed that someone calls the link about
once an hour - though that could be just the holidays.
What do you think? Should I develop a page?

From Carolyn Westbrooks: Hi Misty, You can submitt an ongoing PSA with no time limit and you can have time sensitive PSA's as well. Right now there is no limit to how many mailboxes you have. As for the splash screens. They are made at my discretion, so if Grex would like this type of screen, you or Larry could make up one and I will add it to the rotating screens. <personal message snipped> Carolyn Westbrooks
Sounds like a great idea, Misti.
Ann Arbor CTN channels are available to Media One customers in both Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. FYI.
Carolyn just let me know that we have 400 characters per screen so I'll get busy developing the screens. (I don't want to press our luck, so I won't be using too many screens -- at least at first.
Excellent.
