Nominations are now open for the Cyberspace Communications, Inc. Board of Directors. Nominations will close November 30, 2015. An online election will be held December 15 through December 30. Terms of office begin on January 1, 2016, and are two years in length. This election is for FOUR seats. Board positions held by kentn, cross, tod, and walkman will expire December 31, 2015. Grex membership is a requirement for serving on the Board. Any current member of Grex who has paid at least 3 months' membership dues and meets state of Michigan eligibility requirements may run for and serve on the Board. If you are not a current member, you cannot be a certified candidate in the election, so please be aware of this requirement. To be valid, a nomination must be accepted in this item by the nominee, but the nomination does not need a second. Self-nominations are allowed and will be interpreted as also accepting the nomination. Nominations must be accepted by 1700 EDT, December 14, 2015, to allow time to confirm the list of nominees before opening the polls at midnight. While anyone may cast a ballot, only the ballots of members will be counted for the election. The voteadm may count the non-members' votes and report their results, as well, but this is not a requirement. If haven't updated your membership in a long time, please do so before the start of voting, so your vote will count! $6 (3 months membership) will get you a voting membership if you do it right before the election starts. Memberships are $18/year or $2 per month. See: https://grex.org/member.xhtml PayPal links are provided and you can choose to pay in $18 increments or $2 increments. Or you can pay by check, but beware that it needs to reach the treasurer prior to the election and mail can be unreliable.23 responses total.
I would like to nominate cross, kentn, walkman and tod
Okay, tod, you are automatically nomimnated. I'll accept the nomination, too.
I'll accept.
I'll accept
I second everyone's nominations, if needed. But do we still need 5 people on the board? I recall talking about cutting it down but maybe that wasn't a good idea.
Nominations are now closed. Between now and the election, make sure you are up to date on your membership. Note that we have 4 open seats and only 3 nominated people have accepted. So, we'll need to have a special election for the 4th seat. Nominated are: tod, kentn, and cross.
Don't they have until the day before voting starts to accept? I know the voteadm needs time to set up the voting booth.
Everyone nominated already accepted.
Ah. I overlooked that.
In resp:1, walkman was also nominated, and hasn't responded, from what I can see here. Or did I miss it?
Was someone supposed to open the voting booth?
I suspect so. I've been out of town dealing with a family emergency so have not been paying attention. The "usual" timing is in resp 0, I think, but we can adjust to what works, if necessary.
If I've done everything right, the polls should open with the New Year and close with the fourteenth day of that year. The home page will be updated to include the link to the voting booth over the next few days. I apologise for dropping the ball.
#10 Thank you Tod for nominating me. I would like to announce that I'm officially not accepting the nomination. Please do not include me in the election. It was an honor! Thank you all. -Brian aka Walkman
The votes have now been counted. cross, kentn and tod each received one vote from members. cross received two non-member votes, while kentn and tod each received one non-member vote. So cross, tod, and kentn have each been elected to a two-year term as a Director of Cyberspace Communications, Inc. There is one Directorship vacant.
Congratulations to everyone who ran. It was a landslide victory. When is our next meeting?
In the past we've met in the latter half of January to elect officers.
We'll need to file a EZ990 soon. No word from TS I'm assuming.
Not a peep so far.
He's got nothing to do with it, of course. We should just get 'er done.
Who's going to volunteer as Resident Agent? At this point I think gelinas or kentn?
Considering it's mostly a position of taking whatever is sent to us and then giving it to the Board for inspection/comment, I think I can do this. I'm home most of the time, so if someone rings the doorbell to deliver something, I can accept whatever they are sending us. Just being the recipient of whatever document they want to send us doesn't means I'd be in trouble necessarily.
It just means you'd be providing the physical address and promise to get whatever official government correspondence is sent to the board.
You have several choices:
