The next Grex Board Meeting will be Sunday, March 7. At this point, I'm putting together the agenda. Are there any items folks would like to see on the agenda? If so, enter them here.6 responses total.
Aside from what has been discussed in coop recently, and business remaining from prior meetings, are there any items people would like to see on the meeting agenda for the Mar. 7 meeting?
Quick recap: mail/mysql/network-tools/personalized-domains/validation/ public access to #staff/streaming of board meetings/separate-task-lists- for-staff/ were the matters raised. 1. PD's was dropped because of marginal benefit and fiddling with provide.net's DNS but you might want to enquire about doing something like: http://veek.users.cyberspace.org (and hosting user written tutorials on this domain - SDF has it: http://sdf.lonestar.org/? tutorials - note credit is given to the user who wrote the tutorial) 2. what about increased disk space (20MB) 3. website needs to be updated and a Grex-cheat-sheet-page created with features being offered etc 4. Better google listing!! by tweaking our web-page file names (unix_free_shell.html) and dirTweaks (http://cyberblah/Unix_Free_Shell/ features.html) maybe even a new domain like so: http://unix- shell.cyberspace.org that redirects to cyberspace.org When someone types "free shell" we should show up first and not weirdo sites like: shells.red-pill.eu/
those sneaky arbornet rats have done it! http://www.arbornet.org/free_shell_accounts.php Arbornet - Totally Free Shell Account
Those are all great ideas, veek. Keep the ideas coming! And we'll see what we can get done. Getting the ideas in the queue helps.
Note that if you google for "free unix shell" Grex is the 9th site listed while arbornet is #4. SDF is #3 and Cygwin is #2 in the list. If you google for "free shell" the results are even worse. So, there's definitely room for improvement here!
Oh, by the way, shells.red-pill.eu is a list of sites that offer free shells. Grex is listed there. The site provides connection stats (daily, weekly, monthly), so might be of interest. But we're #31 on their list and rated 3 out 5 (it doesn't say why, but that is the default rating if you don't change to some other rating).
You have several choices:
