Grex Coop Conference

Item 239: We need to have a BoD meeting!

Entered by cross on Mon Aug 25 02:34:30 2008:

We need to have a BoD meeting, badly. We haven't had one for nearly a
year (since October, 2007!). What can we do to get everyone together
to have one?

Are you finally going to try to vote out that piece of shit Chuck
Martin?

#2 of 46 by remmers on Mon Aug 25 14:48:09 2008:

I'd suggest an email conversation among the BOD and staff members to
schedule a meeting, then post date, place, and agenda here.
Traditionally the president posts the agenda, but there isn't a
president now, so an I guess an ad hoc approach will have to do at this
stage. Keep in mind that board meetings are open to the public.

Good luck!

#3 of 46 by cross on Mon Aug 25 17:57:43 2008:

That approach hasn't generated a lot of traction. Hence, the public plea.

To the Grex community: A lot of you know the board members personally. If
you have that kind of rapport with them, would you *please* *please* *please*
ask them to login and/or respond to their board email?

#4 of 46 by mary on Mon Aug 25 19:45:33 2008:

Thanks, Dan, for taking the lead. Again.

#5 of 46 by cross on Mon Aug 25 19:49:23 2008:

Ain't no thang.

#6 of 46 by denise on Mon Sep 1 00:55:27 2008:

Yeah, I noticed, too, that not too many people responded to the email...

I don't remember how many people are on the board; can we at least get
some kind of quorum together and get down to business?

Until I know when I'll be discharged from my partial hospitalization
trreeatment program, I can't guarantee being to a meeting on time on a
weeknight, as sometimes I don't finish up til 7-8:00. I hope that I'll
be finished sometime in the next week or two but I don't know for sure.
Usually I have the weekend off from the program [except I had to go in
for the day yesterday], so if we do something in the next couple weeks,
maybe a weekend date would be best for me.

#7 of 46 by denise on Mon Sep 1 00:56:35 2008:

What can we do to make the meeting more fun so people would want to
attend? Maybe a potluck or something?

#8 of 46 by nhardon on Tue Sep 2 12:45:11 2008:

A potluck wouldn't be such a great idea because some people are so poor
that they might actually start stealing the food. Ya know, not all of
us can qualify for mensa only to end up asking other people to pay for
their grex membership!

#9 of 46 by denise on Fri Sep 5 22:13:28 2008:

So who's going to pick a date, time, and place, and just get on with
this? I know I've asked about it multiple times in various
items/conferences and to specific people.

It's not like there's absolutely NO interest in keeping this board and
system going. This is my first time on the board thus, am asking for
whatever protocal is needed. Or not needed.

#10 of 46 by cross on Sat Sep 6 02:31:16 2008:

I vote for Sept. 9th, at 7pm Eastern.

#11 of 46 by cdalten on Sun Sep 7 01:25:36 2008:

Is that when Chuck Martin goes to hell with his whore mother?

#12 of 46 by naftee on Sun Sep 7 03:53:42 2008:

chuck is getting chucked out.

#13 of 46 by cdalten on Sun Sep 7 13:49:10 2008:

I hope so. I mean hell, if grex wanted a dumbass to help with the daily
operations, then they should have put nharmon on staff.

#14 of 46 by nharmon on Sun Sep 7 14:57:57 2008:

I would probably spend more time dealing with system problems. Yes, that
means you.

What good would that do if I post the blueprints to the attack on m-net?
Remember, unitard tried this approach and failed miserably. Geeze, once again,
you failed to learn something. What a shocker. I mean, hell, I wouldn't
guessed it from some 10 year perl veteran that codes on the following level

#12 Nathan Harmon [nharmon] (11) (Mon, May 26, 2008 (15:55)):

 nathan@pythagoras ~/temp > cat > stupid.pl
 my $worldpac = "5"."0";
 my $butt = 5;
 print "It treated them as ";
 print $butt == $worldpac ? "the same." : "different.";
 print "\n";

 ^C
 nathan@pythagoras ~/temp > perl ./stupid.pl
 It treated them as different.

So the Board will meet at 7:00pm tomorrow (Sep 9) evening? Where?

I have two suggestions for the agenda: an election of officers, and
scheduling a special election to replace Jan.

#19 of 46 by cdalten on Mon Sep 8 21:33:20 2008:

We also need a special election to replace that worthless piece of shit
that calls himself unicorn.

#20 of 46 by cross on Mon Sep 8 21:48:41 2008:

resp:18 I don't know about everyone else, but I'll be in my apartment....
He he he. :-)

Btw: Could someone please send me the phone number of wherever we are meeting?

#21 of 46 by aruba on Tue Sep 9 17:25:34 2008:

OK, we're going to try to meet tonight at 6:30, at 32 55 Cardinal Drive.
Sorry for the short notice. Hopefully this will be a preliminary meeting to
set up a regular schedule again.

#22 of 46 by remmers on Tue Sep 9 17:35:25 2008:

Excellent! I hope y'all get back on track with regular meetings.

#23 of 46 by cdalten on Wed Sep 10 01:26:01 2008:

Shut it aruba.

#24 of 46 by tsty on Wed Sep 10 20:03:01 2008:

yeh, kinda was short notice hoever if this meeting does no business
*except* set a a future dae for a complete meeting then it's
not a problem, imo.

#25 of 46 by cross on Wed Sep 10 21:48:55 2008:

We did have a meeting last night, and in my opinion, it was quite productive.
Sure, we didn't follow the correct protocol for it (in terms of laying out
the agenda before hand, etc) but in getting back on track, you've got to start
somewhere, and we did do that.

#26 of 46 by jep on Thu Sep 11 17:09:32 2008:

I'm glad the Board met. I look forward to seeing what it did but am
sure some good things happened. I would have liked for it to have
touched all the bases and made sure it followed all of the right
procedures, but if the first two things happened, I'll take that.

Thanks for pulling things together.

#27 of 46 by cross on Thu Sep 11 20:57:50 2008:

No problem, but it wasn't just me. The board mostly followed the
"standard" procedures, but the tone was, to an extent, "Hey, we
haven't talked in a year, what do we need to actually talk about?
What are the issues?" Etc. To that end, a large part of the tenor
was about how we should go about getting back on track.

A tentative date for the next board meeting was set, on October 9
(or was it 7? Either way, that's the general time frame). It is
tentative to some extent, because of my schedule, and whether I'll
be around on that day, or in the treeline doing some more field
training.

#28 of 46 by remmers on Fri Sep 12 10:37:35 2008:

I'm glad that the board got together too. Were officers selected?

#29 of 46 by cross on Fri Sep 12 10:56:59 2008:

Yes. Steve is the president, Mark the treasurer, and either Mark or Denise
the secretary (it was a bit hard to hear on that one).

#30 of 46 by lar on Fri Sep 12 12:12:34 2008:

steve the president? what a CROCK! He shouldn't even have root
privileges much less be president. This is what we get for slynne coping
out.
a freaking ghost in the machine.

#31 of 46 by cdalten on Fri Sep 12 13:27:56 2008:

Lar, give in to the fear, hatred, and anger. Follow the ways of the darkside.
Together we can overthrow the grex staff and bring order back to cyberspace.

#32 of 46 by slynne on Fri Sep 12 14:23:52 2008:

resp:30 For your information, I was not eligible to run again.

#33 of 46 by nharmon on Fri Sep 12 14:51:38 2008:

How dare you follow the organization's bylaws and not inject your own
sensibility into the system? :-)

#34 of 46 by jep on Fri Sep 12 19:03:35 2008:

re resp:27: I meant to thank all who were involved. I do think you,
Dan, deserve much of the credit for taking the initiative.

#35 of 46 by cross on Fri Sep 12 21:56:17 2008:

Aww shucks. Thanks, jep!

#38 of 46 by denise on Fri Sep 19 00:52:03 2008:

I need to post minutes--will try and get to that this weekend; sorry
it's taken a while!

#39 of 46 by denise on Fri Sep 19 00:54:12 2008:

And the next meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 7th at 7 pm at my house in Ypsi
Township. Address will posted closer to the date.

And in case there are others with allergies, this is a cat-free and a
smoke-free environment.

#40 of 46 by tsty on Mon Oct 20 05:48:18 2008:

oct 21 now ...

#41 of 46 by denise on Mon Oct 20 22:52:19 2008:

Yep, there is a meeting on 10/21; the 2nd one for late summer/early
fall.

#42 of 46 by gelinas on Tue Oct 21 02:28:20 2008:

Unfortunately, we've not yet seen an agenda for the meeting. :(

#43 of 46 by denise on Tue Oct 21 14:28:32 2008:

Hmm, who's supposed to post the agenda?

#44 of 46 by slynne on Tue Oct 21 14:28:44 2008:

The President

#45 of 46 by denise on Tue Oct 21 14:38:44 2008:

Hmm, I hope our president will be able to make it this evening...

#46 of 46 by tsty on Fri Oct 24 15:31:46 2008:

he did and a bit earlier posted an adgenda in new item.
