I assume I'm going to spot asddsa to-day.

#5 of 178 by mynxcat on Fri Sep 26 15:30:32 2003:

I spotted munkey and susieque on my AIM last night.

#6 of 178 by jaklumen on Sat Sep 27 01:26:23 2003:

Well, speaking of that, Momo, I could use your AIM contact: Yahoo
changed things to block spam to the point where Y! won't jive with
Trillian anymore, so I'm waiting for Cerulean Studios to issue a patch.

#7 of 178 by goose on Sat Sep 27 03:34:45 2003:

Do you use IRC with Trillian?

#8 of 178 by aruba on Sat Sep 27 04:24:24 2003:

I spotted valerie, arlo, and kendra at Whole Foods today. I also think I
saw melanief there, but I'm not sure.

#9 of 178 by remmers on Sat Sep 27 12:07:00 2003:

(I tried to check out Whole Foods but couldn't find a parking space.)

Spotted danr at the Michigan Theater yesterday. We were both there
to see "Lost in Translation".

#12 of 178 by other on Sun Sep 28 05:20:51 2003:

spotted y while sitting with scott (and a couple of non-grexers who
probably wondered what the hell I was talking about) tonight at Arbor
Brewing.

#13 of 178 by scott on Sun Sep 28 05:26:05 2003:

How'd you get home so quick, Eric?

#14 of 178 by other on Sun Sep 28 06:17:17 2003:

My bike was parked right in front of the bar, my computer was sleeping on
the desk/table right by the door, and it only take me two keystrokes to
be reading agora once the computer wakes up.

Besides, you only posted 5 minutes after I did.

#15 of 178 by mynxcat on Sun Sep 28 07:07:24 2003:

I just spotted munkey on Yahoo!!

#16 of 178 by scott on Sun Sep 28 13:34:43 2003:

Dammit, I should have hopped right on Grex instead taking out my contact
lenses first.

#17 of 178 by cmcgee on Sun Sep 28 13:34:59 2003:

Those back-to-back vegetarian nachos + brews were a dead give away in Item
Ate.

#18 of 178 by scott on Sun Sep 28 13:47:58 2003:

I'm just waiting for Arbor to start doing the Fat Abbot belgians again, now
that cold weather is here.

#19 of 178 by glenda on Sun Sep 28 14:44:00 2003:

I forgot to enter that I spotted aruba around 11:30 Tuesday morning. He was
crossing Huron at Ravena on his bike. I was heading out to WCCs Western
Center for my first Tai Chi class.

#20 of 178 by asddsa on Sun Sep 28 16:39:11 2003:

You take Tai Chi class? Word. For fighting or relaxing?

#21 of 178 by glenda on Sun Sep 28 18:26:32 2003:

Stress relief, improving flexibility (I have non-arthritic auto-immune joint
disease and have to keep moving or I stiffen up just like arthritis), and to
just get moving. I am hoping that Tai Chi plus walking all over campus will
help loosen the joints and get rid of the chronic pain in the hips, knees,
and ankles.

#22 of 178 by happyboy on Sun Sep 28 22:27:57 2003:

it probably will.

#23 of 178 by aruba on Sun Sep 28 23:10:08 2003:

Yup, I bike through that intersection quite frequently. Never expected to
be spotted!

#24 of 178 by asddsa on Mon Sep 29 01:45:57 2003:

The police'll spot you if you keep running those red lights.

Was she painting a wall or a train overpass.

#29 of 178 by other on Wed Oct 1 05:20:34 2003:

Yes.

#30 of 178 by asddsa on Thu Oct 2 02:45:39 2003:

re 26 Wouldn't that mean you spotted two GreXers? For instance, you spot
yourself every day.

#31 of 178 by katie on Thu Oct 2 03:49:23 2003:

I spotted jor at Green Wood last saturday.

#32 of 178 by mynxcat on Thu Oct 2 10:20:16 2003:

#44 of 178 by mynxcat on Thu Oct 9 19:33:27 2003:

Except for tod, the others didn't

#45 of 178 by remmers on Thu Oct 9 22:54:56 2003:

(Except for the usual one, no Grexers encountered. At least, none THAT
I KNOW OF. (I've occasionally discovered "stealth Grexers" among my
students.))

#46 of 178 by glenda on Thu Oct 9 23:44:54 2003:

I promise not to be a "stealth Grexer" if I manage to become one of your
students.

#47 of 178 by remmers on Fri Oct 10 02:30:30 2003:

You can't be a stealth Grexer -- I'm already onto you and know your
Grexing habits.

An example of a stealth Grexer would be the former qt314. She took
a class from me, but the semester was almost over before I learned
that she was also on Grex.

#48 of 178 by gelinas on Fri Oct 10 05:41:57 2003:

(no, dewshine was not on fire. Nor was the building. Thus the 'drill'. Of
course, with that hair, it's kind of hard to tell. :)

#49 of 178 by glenda on Fri Oct 10 11:39:50 2003:

Her hair has tamed down a lot. That is the trouble with semi-permanent dyes.
We were just thinking that it was time to redo it. I look for her in crowds
by looking for the bright blue or purple, but haven't been able to use that
trick for a bit. She does have fun with it and it is better than some of the
things she could be into.

Are you sure she wasn't on fire. The way she bounces around sometimes I think
that she is.

#50 of 178 by gelinas on Fri Oct 10 15:32:39 2003:

 :)

#51 of 178 by tpryan on Fri Oct 10 17:54:39 2003:

tonight.

#55 of 178 by tsty on Sun Oct 12 08:43:57 2003:

#56 of 178 by remmers on Sun Oct 12 14:34:51 2003:

Right - "Guys and Dolls" is full of bookies and such.

#57 of 178 by other on Sun Oct 12 21:59:50 2003:

spotted a dewshine outside PerfNet today. exchanged huggles and random
bits of conversation.

#58 of 178 by glenda on Mon Oct 13 02:12:15 2003:

Did you get intrduced to the smudgin? (The young man she was with this
afternoon is the step-nephew of my brother-in-law's father. The kids decided
that that made them smudgins. Since most of her friends call me "Mommie",
he calls me Smummie.) ;-)

#59 of 178 by dewshine on Mon Oct 13 02:33:39 2003:

She spelled it wrong! Shmuzin! Shmuzin!

^-^

#60 of 178 by other on Mon Oct 13 02:46:29 2003:

lot today.

#64 of 178 by ea on Fri Oct 17 02:24:51 2003:

Spotted someone on campus today who looked very similar to other (down
to the belt accessories) However, since I have no reason to believe
that other was in Syracuse today, I'm forced to assume it was not him.

#65 of 178 by sabre on Fri Oct 17 14:49:45 2003:

I saw jakluman....sorry I was mistaken.
It was some kids JACKOLANTERN. His big pumpkin head is the cause of my error

#66 of 178 by jep on Mon Oct 20 02:59:23 2003:

Larry Kestenbaum has an "Other Voices" editorial in today's (Sunday's)
Ann Arbor News, on the subject of improving the voting process.

#67 of 178 by keesan on Mon Oct 20 15:41:10 2003:

We had a nice visit with Mark (aruba) who stopped by with an empty ink
cartridge for a refill, and discussed solar power for use on islands.
Mark is biking to class on the bike that Jim helped tune up.

#68 of 178 by aruba on Mon Oct 20 20:26:16 2003:

Indeed, Jim and Sindi fed me lots of delicious fruit and nuts, and Jim
traded me a full ink cartridge for my empty one and a donation to Grex. All
around a good deal. ;)

#69 of 178 by scott on Mon Oct 20 21:01:02 2003:

Spotted Jim riding his bike on Burwood street, perhaps on his way to Murray's
to buy a fan belt.

#70 of 178 by keesan on Tue Oct 21 02:20:08 2003:

Jim spotted Scott while on his way to Murray's for one of the five fan belts
he bought. (He says only four belts but he bought one twice. Giggle...)

#71 of 178 by scott on Thu Oct 30 02:28:04 2003:

Spotted aruba, in his native habitat, earlier this evening.

#72 of 178 by aruba on Thu Oct 30 04:31:15 2003:

Scott came by to help me with my Halloween doorbell project. He
successfully diagnosed my problem, so now I need to find some spooky sounds.

#73 of 178 by scott on Sat Nov 1 04:11:49 2003:

Spotted katie when I did sound at the Greenwood coffeehouse this evening.

#74 of 178 by aruba on Sat Nov 1 22:27:46 2003:

I saw both scott and danr yesterday, when they helped me again with my
doorbell project. I saw tpryan the day before when he loaned me some CDs.

#75 of 178 by krj on Tue Nov 4 20:40:13 2003:

Spotted Jim and Sindi outside of the school where I was voting;
darn, the name is escaping me, senility is heck. It was great to
see Sindi up and out walking.

#76 of 178 by keesan on Tue Nov 4 20:58:35 2003:

Jim was also voting and this was today's hike. It was great to have a chat
with Ken, who is not supposed to be out walking. Slauson School. I could
not remember the name of the place where I am supposed to vote either.
Amazing the sort of people they allow to vote.

#77 of 178 by rcurl on Wed Nov 5 06:13:04 2003:

Yeah - imagine letting people that restore old junk, which goes against
the principles of the throw-away American economy, vote.   8^}

#78 of 178 by carson on Wed Nov 5 20:55:07 2003:

(spotting jared.)

#79 of 178 by tsty on Thu Nov 6 10:56:32 2003:

really?! where, dong what?

#80 of 178 by scott on Thu Nov 6 22:31:22 2003:

Spotted other in the middle of the Main & Washington intersection downtown.
He must have walked through thick right-lane traffic just to wave into my side
window...

#81 of 178 by other on Fri Nov 7 16:05:31 2003:

It stopped just before I walked... ;)

#82 of 178 by remmers on Sun Nov 9 17:47:48 2003:

Spotted a photo of other in an ACLU pamphlet.

#83 of 178 by other on Sun Nov 9 22:21:17 2003:

Oh! I haven't seen it yet. Was it mailed to you? If not, where
did you get it?

#84 of 178 by remmers on Sun Nov 9 22:29:07 2003:

Got it in the mail. Title is "What's Happened to Free Speech?"

#85 of 178 by carson on Tue Nov 11 12:57:11 2003:

#88 of 178 by scg on Tue Nov 18 04:52:32 2003:

Had a planned sighting of mziemba and an unplanned sighting of shepherd during
a quick trip to Ann Arbor a month or so ago.

I spent a week in nephi's apartment in Chicago, and thus saw him briefly a
few times. We were both way too busy that week.

Spotted jared in Chicago as well.

#89 of 178 by tsty on Tue Nov 18 06:57:25 2003:

is jared still working with his dad? he used to .. taht was great!

#90 of 178 by gelinas on Thu Nov 20 23:37:10 2003:

#91 of 178 by scg on Tue Nov 25 05:55:09 2003:

Was spotted my llanarth at Metzger's.

#92 of 178 by mynxcat on Tue Nov 25 16:50:10 2003:

I thought llanarth was returning to Ann Arbor?

#93 of 178 by remmers on Tue Nov 25 17:05:27 2003:

Methinks scg was in Ann Arbor when the spotting occurred.
Metzger's is the name of an Ann Arbor restaurant.

#94 of 178 by scott on Tue Nov 25 17:54:29 2003:

scg has already mentioned coming back to A2 for the holiday.

#95 of 178 by tsty on Tue Nov 25 18:17:17 2003:

llanarth has ben back iin a2 for at least 1.5 yrs, maybe more.

#96 of 178 by mynxcat on Tue Nov 25 19:19:42 2003:

It couldn't have been 1.5 years. I don't think. Maybe one year.

Makes sense. scg moves around a lot

#97 of 178 by jiffer on Tue Nov 25 22:59:56 2003:

#98 of 178 by mynxcat on Wed Nov 26 02:58:49 2003:

#99 of 178 by willcome on Thu Nov 27 07:38:46 2003:

She shells the spores for the sea whore.

#100 of 178 by keesan on Thu Nov 27 15:04:38 2003:

Tim was spotted in Jim's house when he came over with a bunch of Thanksgiving
presents which included one very small (Barbie) and one very large (server)
computer case, a dead solar light (live ones are no fun) and help getting our
CD writer to write CDs.

#101 of 178 by ea on Sat Nov 29 05:47:29 2003:

Spotted dcat this morning.

Surprisingly, did not spot senna at the UM hockey game this evening.

#102 of 178 by dcat on Sat Nov 29 09:30:23 2003:

shopped for electronics at disgustingly early hour of the morning with ea,

friday) with snowth and orinoco.

#103 of 178 by other on Mon Dec 1 04:13:01 2003:

Spotted scott at the Old Town tonight. Then I watched him get up
and play electric standup bass and do backing vocals with the Nick
Strange group.

#104 of 178 by naftee on Mon Dec 1 04:15:02 2003:

Maybe you just can't appreciate music.

#105 of 178 by willcome on Mon Dec 1 04:20:31 2003:

Spotted willcome today.

This response has been erased.

#118 of 178 by bhoward on Wed Dec 3 00:03:28 2003:

I feel a little left out of this item. Are there any other grexers
in Tokyo? Maybe we could coordinate some sitings preferably down
at a nearby drinking establishment :-)

#119 of 178 by tod on Wed Dec 3 00:24:05 2003:

This response has been erased.

#120 of 178 by carson on Wed Dec 3 12:26:11 2003:

(my parents met while stationed in Okinawa. I have yet to visit Japan

#124 of 178 by carson on Thu Dec 4 03:42:00 2003:

(I don't know, as I haven't been. is Okinawa really that big?)

#125 of 178 by gelinas on Thu Dec 4 03:44:13 2003:

(Sixty miles long, ten miles wide (at the widest).)

#126 of 178 by bhoward on Thu Dec 4 04:56:36 2003:

(Once you get out of Naha and into the north, it gets really
beautiful. Naha itself is fairly indistinguishable from
any other urban area in Japan except for the weather and
large numbers of US military aircraft passing this way and
that. If you visit, I recommend driving north by Motobu
and beyond into Kunigami and Oku)

#127 of 178 by gregb on Thu Dec 4 18:30:05 2003:

I thought Naha was down by Mexico. ;-)

#128 of 178 by tod on Thu Dec 4 19:46:10 2003:

This response has been erased.

#129 of 178 by mcnally on Thu Dec 4 20:28:31 2003:

No, Naha is about five miles north of the north end of the road system
here on Revillagigedo Island. If you take a boat to the float pier at
the mouth of the river and hike upstream a ways it's a good place to
look for black bears during the pink salmon run.

  http://www.dfred.net/~mcnally/Ketchikan/naha_bear_4x6.html

#130 of 178 by gelinas on Thu Dec 4 21:29:36 2003:

Naha is the provincial capital of Okinawa, toward the south end of the island.
The other major city is Nago, about half-way up on the west.

#131 of 178 by mcnally on Thu Dec 4 22:10:05 2003:

I think most people picked up on that, Joe..

Clearly Greg and Tod were being facetious with their suggestions
(Baja and Nai-Nai respectively) and I was talking about a very
different Naha on a very different island..

#132 of 178 by bhoward on Thu Dec 4 22:50:31 2003:

Nice pictures, Mike!

#133 of 178 by mcnally on Fri Dec 5 00:09:25 2003:

  Thanks.

I need a way, though, to put a longer lens on my digital camera
for better wildlife pictures. Even in salmon season, when they're
pretty much uninterested in anything else, I'm still only willing
to get so close to the bears.. :-)

#134 of 178 by bhoward on Fri Dec 5 00:57:48 2003:

Good survival strategy.

#135 of 178 by gelinas on Fri Dec 5 04:09:22 2003:

Yeah, I know. But we aren't the only ones reading the responses.

#136 of 178 by gelinas on Thu Dec 11 06:02:32 2003:

Spotted aaron at polygon's campaign-organisation meeting this evening.

#137 of 178 by keesan on Thu Dec 11 14:36:13 2003:

We were wandering around the WCC computer department looking for a professor
of C programming and were fantastically lucky to run into Glenda, who told
us where to find professor ratings and said not to take the second course
without taking the first one first. Somehow her advice rated more highly than
the same advice from me.

I would be curious where to find the instructor ratings.

#139 of 178 by carson on Thu Dec 11 16:41:31 2003:

re #136: (wow, Larry's really serious about this Grex board thing!)

(spotted Jared a couple of days ago when we compared MR-2s.)

#140 of 178 by gelinas on Thu Dec 11 17:01:10 2003:

(Yes, but this was for County Clerk. ;)

#141 of 178 by remmers on Thu Dec 11 17:15:03 2003:

Had a semi-expected spotting of davel at the weekly Lighthouse Coffee
Shop open mic in Milan last night.

Re #142: I wonder if there are Grexer sightings on that site.

Just spotted phenix a few feet from my office.

#146 of 178 by glenda on Thu Dec 11 20:59:45 2003:

I spotted remmers office door a little after 11am today (and on a couple of
other occassions since September).

#147 of 178 by willcome on Thu Dec 11 21:02:37 2003:

You mean to say: Professor Doctor John Remmers's door.

#148 of 178 by glenda on Thu Dec 11 21:53:10 2003:

No, I don't.

#149 of 178 by willcome on Thu Dec 11 22:58:45 2003:

You do.

#150 of 178 by remmers on Fri Dec 12 00:10:40 2003:

"remmers" is fine for mode of address. But you knew that.

Hm, Glenda and I never seem to be in the vicinity of my office at
the same time.

#151 of 178 by glenda on Fri Dec 12 02:03:53 2003:

That's because I am normally on campus on Mon, Wed, and Fri. You seem to be
there on Tue and Thur. I was only there today to drop off an assignment.

#152 of 178 by remmers on Fri Dec 12 15:16:55 2003:

Videotape of this year's Old Time Piano Contest arrived in the mail
yesterday. Haven't watched it yet, but when I do I guess it will
constitute a me-spotting.

#153 of 178 by glenda on Fri Dec 12 17:08:50 2003:

It doesn't count if it is planned :-)

#160 of 178 by dcat on Mon Dec 15 03:36:53 2003:

spent ~ 6 hrs in a car w/ orinoco today. . . .

#161 of 178 by aruba on Mon Dec 15 03:39:07 2003:

And I spotted orinoco tonight at the annual Ann Arbor Morris Christmas
party. He was a doctor.

#162 of 178 by scott on Mon Dec 15 05:04:32 2003:

Had a semi-planned spotting of remmers at the Ragtime Bash this evening. He
played exceptionally well.

#163 of 178 by remmers on Mon Dec 15 20:46:27 2003:

Thanks, Scott. I enjoyed performing, and hearing the other performers.
It was a very good Bash this year, with a couple of new performers
added to the mix. I'm sure that folks appreciated your sound engineering
efforts.

#164 of 178 by scott on Mon Dec 15 22:15:40 2003:

Heh. I only recorded... although I did help with the battery-killing wireless
mics a bit.

#165 of 178 by dcat on Tue Dec 16 01:36:49 2003:

  Where's Randy's?

#169 of 178 by happyboy on Wed Dec 17 19:46:59 2003:

south of here.

#170 of 178 by scott on Wed Dec 17 19:57:03 2003:

Spotted somebody who could have been senna at last night's midnight "Return
of the King" showing at the Michigan.

#171 of 178 by other on Wed Dec 17 20:32:43 2003:

That would have been strangely appropriate... ;)

#172 of 178 by carson on Thu Dec 18 04:58:20 2003:

(spotted ex-Grexer ziggy while he was working at Encore.)

#173 of 178 by goose on Thu Dec 18 20:44:55 2003:

Spotted krj at the post office while waiting he was waiting for arabella.

#174 of 178 by naftee on Fri Dec 19 04:06:18 2003:

I spotted geese overhead, but no goose.

#175 of 178 by dcat on Fri Dec 19 04:45:57 2003:

was at the Michigan for Return of the King, but wouldn't have known if i had
spotted either scott or senna, as i don't know what either of them look like.

#176 of 178 by remmers on Fri Dec 19 12:09:20 2003:

If there was someone who was about twice as tall as everybody else,
that was senna.

#177 of 178 by carson on Fri Dec 19 13:29:49 2003:

(I suspect that a midnight showing of "Return of the King" would be one
of the rare places where senna couldn't be smelled from miles away...)

#178 of 178 by naftee on Sat Dec 20 04:32:10 2003:

re 176 senna is a giant?
