This is usually a slower form of conversation: people stop by as they
get a chance, read what has been written, and make their contribution.

We use "party" for real-time conversations.

Just about the time he entered #6, too. ;)

I've been trying to figure out what "kotr" means, assuming it's not the
user's initials. The best guess I have is "King Of The Road", which in
turn made me think of the classic country song by Tennessee Ernie
Ford. The next guess is something to do with Lord of the Rings, such
as perhaps "Keeper of the Ring".

This user definitely has an admirable dive-in spirit. I hope he'll
stick with Grex. You've had a good start, kotr!

(huh. maybe it's my WWF/WWE addiction, but I just assumed it was "King
of the Ring" and never gave it another thought.)

welcome back, kotr

#12 of 31 by mynxcat on Thu Dec 18 16:12:54 2003:

Re 9> Or it could be short for Kotter. Resp 11 made me think fo that.

#13 of 31 by flem on Thu Dec 18 19:30:32 2003:

The first thing that leaped into my mind was some kind of strange cross
between LotR and RotK

#14 of 31 by twenex on Thu Dec 18 19:32:25 2003:

Ditto.

#15 of 31 by gelinas on Thu Dec 18 21:00:53 2003:

(NB: Roger Miller sang "King of the Road," not Tennessee Ernie Ford.)

#16 of 31 by albaugh on Thu Dec 18 21:44:10 2003:

Monk?

#17 of 31 by kotr on Fri Dec 19 01:24:39 2003:

It is "Knights of the round."
It is the hacking group I belong to.
I hope we dont cross paths anytime soon :p

#18 of 31 by naftee on Fri Dec 19 04:14:46 2003:

Okay monk.

#19 of 31 by jep on Fri Dec 19 18:52:58 2003:

re resp:15: Roger Miller sings *all* country songs, and a smattering of
others.

#20 of 31 by kotr on Fri Dec 19 20:04:23 2003:

coolies ;)

#21 of 31 by gelinas on Fri Dec 19 21:35:27 2003:

(Roger Miller _wrote_ "King of the Road" in the summer of 1964, and recorded
in November. It was released early in 1965 and went to number one. Tennessee
Ernie Ford covered it on an album in 1966.)

BTW, Roger Miller died in 1992.

#24 of 31 by jep on Tue Dec 23 02:59:10 2003:

(resp:21: That's the problem with singing so many songs by other
people! It's hard for folks to remember when you've sung one of your
own. I'm clearly wrong this time. Next mistake scheduled: March 13,
2026.)

#25 of 31 by gelinas on Tue Dec 23 03:07:40 2003:

(You should do a google-search on him, jep; he wrote lots of stuff, done by
lots of people. Sorta like Willie Nelson back around that time.)

#26 of 31 by jep on Tue Dec 23 04:39:34 2003:

(I know about Roger Whitaker, as much as I want to, anyway.)

#27 of 31 by gelinas on Tue Dec 23 04:42:02 2003:

Roger Whitaker? What brought him up? I do like his music, though.

#28 of 31 by jep on Tue Dec 23 04:44:08 2003:

Sigh. I'm confusing my Rogers. I was thinking of Roger Whitaker. I
guess I don't know squat about Roger Miller.

#29 of 31 by gelinas on Tue Dec 23 04:51:09 2003:

Roger Miller did "Chug-a-lug, Chug-a-lug," ""Dang Me," "You Can't Roller-skate
in a Buffalo Herd," and such like. Roger Whitaker did "The Last Farewell,"
"It's Your Love," "Before She Breaks My Heart" and such like.

#30 of 31 by katie on Wed Dec 24 02:02:54 2003:

I like them both. Roger Whitaker is very underrated, in my opinion.
I love his voice. I love Roger Miller's psyche.
