Ok...It seems like everyone on grex wants to be an arm-chair economist. Other than a macro-econ class I took over the summer, I don't know too much about world economics, which makes for great conspiracy theories! :) My favorite ones usually involve world finance and plots by global capitalist to take over the world (J.P Morgans involvement with the sinking of the Lusitania, the Rothschilds involvement in the American Civil war, JFKs assassination due to executive order #11110, the report from Iron Mountain, etc.). The best part is that when a conspiracy theory breaks down in the face of factual documented information, you just proclaim that the person who disagrees with you is part of the conspiracy! So just like the Bible, you're never "wrong"! :D anyways, getting back on topic....anyone have any good conspiracy theories, Worst case senarios regarding the economy (Doomsday type stuff)??19 responses total.
Ok my doomsday senario goes something like this: When the national debt starts nearing the $6 trillion mark, mixed with a weakening dollar, the japanese will start dumping U.S. treasuries onto the market causing a huge loss in value. Alot of Americans will also dump their securites in exchange for the new gold ETF. Now the gov't has a few choices: default on payment, print more money leading to hyper-inflation, issue new treasuries with higher yields,..?? Ok..now i'm stuck help me out, what next?
crap...I just looked at the national debt clock; I'm must have been sleeping, we past $6 trillion a few months back. I'll have to make like a moonie and revise my figures - this time to $7 trillion.
Looks like the government has already been doing your second option.

Re #0: Listen to the Genesis Communications Network some time, either on shortwave or via their MP3 streams. You'll hear some really great conspiracy theories. I consider this entertainment, but I'm weird that way. ;>
My favorite that I've heard there is the theory that fluoridated water damages people's brains, and that the government is doing this on purpose so people will be docile and too stupid to realize what's going on when the UN takes over the country.
No, no, that is Television. don't you read chomsky?
I've been reading a book called "The Creature From Jekyll Island" by G. Edward Griffin; he's like the Stephen King of conspiracy theories concerning international bankers.
It is my understanding that "flouride" is an industrial byproduct of the steel making industry. (I assume Rane will help confirm or deny this fact ;-) )

re#5 what's the best freq for that station? I usually listen to 5070 khz WWCR (World Wide Christian Radio), Coast-to-Coast blows, now that Art Bell no longer hosts.
OK. Fluorine compounds are byproducts of the phosphate fertilizer industry. Apatite, a calcium mineral found in central Florida, is ground up and treated with sulfuric acid, producing phosphoric acid and the two byproducts, calcium sulfate and two gas emissions, hydrofluoric acid and fluorosilicic acid. These gases are captured by product recovery units (scrubbers) and condensed into 23% fluorosilicic acid. Sodium fluoride and sodium fluorosilicate are made from this acid. The last is the usual water fluoridation chemical.
Or in plain english, they add acid to the water which eats your brain. Therefore you should buy bottled water. This message brought to you by Evian, which spelled backward....
Re resp:11: I'm not sure anymore. They don't own any stations of their own, but they distribute via satellite and shortwave stations can broadcast their programs. The station I used to listen to them on quit carrying the program I liked, Radio Liberty, so since then I've just listened on the Internet (via http://www.gcnlive.com/) when I get the urge to listen to conspiracy kooks talk about the threats to our Precious Bodily Fluids. :>
What happened to Radio For Peace International?!
#13 is technically incorrect, but still worth a giggle. sodium fluorosilicate is not an acid (and very little is added to the water - just ppms). There is no advantage to bottled water, except for those overly fastidious about the taste of their water.
WHJAT HAPPENED TO RADIO FOR PEACE INTERNATIONAL?
There's no accounting for fastidious taste...
Rane has me on a technicality: it's not an "acid" but the "sodium fluorosilicate" that eats your brain. On the other hand, most people don't use 90% of their brain but do use their teeth to eat and nourish themselves. So obviously teeth are more important than brains. Are you starting to suspect that I've drunken too much tap water? Then you prove my point!
You have several choices:
