It said my number was 129 and called me an insightful linguist. What does
it say about you?

136
Facts curator. (!)

I declined their offer to sell me a complete IQ report for 15 bucks.

The only question I was unsure about was a pattern recognition problem
on the 2nd page.

#2 of 47 by jep on Tue Aug 12 13:34:06 2003:

127. Precision Processor.

#3 of 47 by polytarp on Tue Aug 12 14:06:34 2003:

O, yeah, I should note two things: One, being: You don't have to give your
E-mail address or anything to get the basic results: Two, being: Anyone who
takes that test, besides me, is an idiot, and those who score higher than me
are, additionally, cheaters.

But it's still a fun test: A real morale booster, I'm sure.

#4 of 47 by jep on Tue Aug 12 15:04:25 2003:

I'll agree with the idiot part. But then, I *am* the dumbest Grexer to
take the test yet so perhaps I'd better.

#5 of 47 by oval on Tue Aug 12 15:16:02 2003:

ya it kills boredom for a while.

131: a Visual Mathematician

#6 of 47 by carson on Tue Aug 12 15:55:18 2003:

(136, "Visual Mathematician." whatever. make mine MENSA.)

#7 of 47 by remmers on Tue Aug 12 16:18:22 2003:

Although I am in fact a mathematician, and their summary mentioned
that I had excellent math skills, they classified me as a "Fact
Curator". Sounds dull, uninteresting, uncreative, bureaucratic.

So much for the morale boost. Now I'm all depressed and stuff.

#8 of 47 by novomit on Tue Aug 12 16:49:39 2003:

That's what I got rated, too. :(

#9 of 47 by sj2 on Tue Aug 12 17:31:22 2003:

emode.com - 129, Visual mathematician. Paid $15 and took the EQ test
too - 139.

Didn't know they had automatically subscribed me to some $9/month
service. Unsubscribed!!

Good for flattering yourself but don't know if its any good really.

With a little practise, I guess I could've scored 180-200!! No no, I am
not saying I am a genius but that the difficulty level didn't seem
really high.

The funniest part was getting matched with females with similar scores
etc!!! :))

I got "500 Servlet Exception". I guess I will never know my IQ......

#12 of 47 by gelinas on Tue Aug 12 18:51:13 2003:

I wonder if they are using MS servers.

#13 of 47 by carson on Tue Aug 12 18:54:26 2003:

(that wouldn't be very intelligent.)

#14 of 47 by mary on Tue Aug 12 19:42:36 2003:

The site is again up.

I'm a 135 - Facts Curator. So I guess John and I can be dull,
uninteresting, uncreative, bureaucratic and depressed together.

Cool.

#15 of 47 by remmers on Tue Aug 12 21:03:08 2003:

Think I'll read the World Almanac tonight.

#16 of 47 by dcat on Tue Aug 12 21:19:15 2003:

138/Facts Curator. I'm not sure what knowing popular sayings -- 'a cynic is
one who..." etc -- really has to do with intelligence, though.

#17 of 47 by polytarp on Tue Aug 12 21:51:00 2003:

You know, I suspect the test is faulty, because nearly everyone's getting a
score in the same small range.

#18 of 47 by glenda on Tue Aug 12 23:02:42 2003:

136 - Visonary Philsopher.

#19 of 47 by polytarp on Tue Aug 12 23:14:53 2003:

See? Faulty.

#20 of 47 by jaklumen on Tue Aug 12 23:35:08 2003:

126- Visual Mathematician. But a mathematician I am not. Some of
emode's tests are really weird.

#21 of 47 by janc on Wed Aug 13 02:20:41 2003:

140 - Visionary Philosopher.

Well, the test is completely bogus. There is no time limit. The number
of questions is too small. And too many people are scoring too high.
Many of the answers are debatable if taken as serious questions rather
than test questions (ie, it's obvious what answer they want, although that
answer is probably wrong - eg, a five man team does not take exactly twice
as long to paint a house as a ten man team). A person who is actually
smart, as opposed to just be good at taking tests, would likely score
pretty low, or at least be frustrated by the fact that in many cases
none of the choices are correct. Never mind that the whole concept of
IQ is mostly bogus.

I gave "spam@aol.com" as my email addres, and it complained that it
already had my email address in it's database. What a surprise!
This site has so much sleazy marketing encrusted on it, that an accurate
test would be way too much to expect.

#22 of 47 by gull on Wed Aug 13 02:43:11 2003:

Well, naturally it's not an accurate test. You think anyone would pay
for the full results if it told them they were an idiot?

#23 of 47 by sholmes on Wed Aug 13 03:27:30 2003:

Your IQ score is 140 : we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Visionary
Philosopher.

#24 of 47 by sj2 on Wed Aug 13 06:49:36 2003:

Re #17, the site does say that the majority of people's IQ lies
between 90-130 or something like that.

I also got a Visual Mathematician. I think what it means is you can
solve problems by visualising them. And you might have a problem
solving things that you can't visualise.

For example, I can solve coordiante geometry problems easily and enjoy
doing it because I try and visualise the objects. But I have a tough
time with trignometery and I don't enjoy the equations at all.

Just theorising, could be wrong though.

#25 of 47 by remmers on Wed Aug 13 11:31:13 2003:

I took the test again and deliberately chose what I believed
to be a wrong answer to every question. Results:

        IQ: 72
        Intellectual Type: Inventive Inquisitor

You have the unusual distinction of being equally good
at math and verbal skills. This means you are a creative
thinker and are uniquely good at teaching others through
experiences. You are also a great improviser and very
        good at handling change.

I guess an "inventive inquisitor" must be someone who doesn't
know anything and so has to ask questions all the time.

They're SO diplomatic about telling me that I'm a moron. What my
score really indicates is this:

You have the unusual distinction of being completely
lacking in both math and verbal skills. You so totally
mess up everything you try that others learn what not
to do just by watching you. Since you don't know how
to do anything, you never even open a door the same
way twice. You just have the same dull look on your
face no matter what happens to you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

#27 of 47 by novomit on Wed Aug 13 12:07:28 2003:

Oddly enough, "Inventive Inquisitor" sounds more complimentary than "Facts
Curator" does to me.

#28 of 47 by janc on Wed Aug 13 15:10:59 2003:

I wonder how they get "facts curator." I don't recall seeing a single factual
question on the test.

#31 of 47 by sholmes on Thu Aug 14 03:04:03 2003:

Getting each and every answer wrong might also be a stroke of genius.
You'd atleast get some right by way of fluke.
In my undergrad days a guy answered each of about 300 questions wrong for a
test for a job .. and he eneded up being called for the interview.

#32 of 47 by kami on Thu Aug 14 04:33:27 2003:

I got 135 and visionary philosopher. Cute.

#33 of 47 by scg on Thu Aug 14 07:44:40 2003:

I got 135 and "facts curator," but I was having trouble staying awake. I
usually come out in the 140s or occasionally 150s on these things.

#34 of 47 by fitz on Thu Aug 14 10:43:31 2003:

I got "Unexpected error/We are trying to fix the problem." I guess that that
means that I'm not intelligent enough to even take a multiple guess test
online and not screw it up.

#35 of 47 by oval on Thu Aug 14 19:35:59 2003:

damn i wish i'd gotten that one.

#36 of 47 by fitz on Sat Aug 16 17:19:14 2003:

Indeed. I must say that it made the effort and time so worthwhile.

#37 of 47 by twenex on Sun Aug 17 15:53:23 2003:

122 and an Insightful Linguist, apparently.

I got 134 in another (free, online) test, however. Go figure.

#38 of 47 by oval on Mon Aug 18 14:36:16 2003:

the inkblot test is pretty cool.

#39 of 47 by jaklumen on Tue Aug 19 01:23:22 2003:

#46 of 47 by jaklumen on Thu Aug 21 01:45:26 2003:

Yeah, man.

I took an online IQ test, but I have forgotten where I took it from.
In any case, my score was 126 and my personality type was Word Warrior.
