And other countries are also introducing various flavours of IP 
*Protection* laws!!

So what does the future look like?? Will these laws have a major impact 
on our lives in the future or will they be relegated to the category of 
loony-arcane laws??

I wonder how long before personal cryptography will be illegal or treason
worldwide?

Compare efforts to bring in IP protection laws to other restrictive 
laws like maybe Gun control and see the difference in public reaction. 

In the former case, reaction is pretty much limited to geeks and their 
media whereas the latter causes a huge furore. So because people don't 
understand technology they are not outraged by such *protection* laws 
and they get passed irrespective of the deep impact they could have on 
our lives.

I'd like to see that military grade smart shelf. makes shoplifting that much
more difficult it the shelf launches an rpg at you when you run for it.
