Item 126: hello

Entered by cemu on Mon Jul 28 15:44:25 2003:

hello all.
im a total newbie to this system so i hope i'm not doing anything wrong(like
posting to the wrong conference)
it looks (and sounds) like this system is what internet communication was
meant to be (before the commercialzation).

that's it for now.

Hi Cemu, welcome to Grex.  Yes, we are very old-fashioned here at times;
I often refer to Grex as "The Living Computer Museum."

Yeah, it is amazing that we can type at all...what with the arthritis
and all. I think grex should change its name to "geezernet"

#3 of 25 by rcurl on Mon Jul 28 18:02:20 2003:

Now, what precisely are the symptoms of geezerness that lead you to
that conclusion?

#4 of 25 by slynne on Mon Jul 28 18:28:35 2003:

I'll bet most people here have gray hair. Heck. *I* have gray hair. ;)

Welcome, cemu.

I don't know that most people here have gray hair, but it does
seem to me that Grexers' average age is creeping up. There are
a number of folks here who started out on Grex when they were
in high school and stuck with it as they moved into adulthood.
But I don't see new highschoolers coming aboard in comparable
numbers -- I can think of only a couple who are at all active.

And they're from Canada!!

#8 of 25 by remmers on Mon Jul 28 18:49:05 2003:

(Actually, I was thinking of two US highschoolers, but you're
right, add two more to the list from our neighbor to the north.)

#9 of 25 by rcurl on Mon Jul 28 19:47:01 2003:

Gray hair is not necessarily a symptom of geezerness.

#10 of 25 by slynne on Mon Jul 28 20:05:28 2003:

You must have a different definition of geezer, rcurl. Anyone over 30
with gray hair is a geezer. ;)

Cem is probably Turkish. I wish I could remember some words other than the
numbers 1-10.

#12 of 25 by oval on Mon Jul 28 20:20:34 2003:

i've heard this language is incredibly difficult.

#15 of 25 by twenex on Tue Jul 29 16:43:18 2003:

Watch where you point that word, slynne. I'm 25.

It's not wise to upset a twenex ;-P

#16 of 25 by twenex on Tue Jul 29 17:02:11 2003:

And hi Cem.

#17 of 25 by cemu on Tue Jul 29 20:32:22 2003:

mumbo-jumbo).

you got it right Sindi. i'm turkish. but it's not that difficult oval.
you see i speak it as easily as you speak english :PPPP

both sound funny)

#18 of 25 by mynxcat on Tue Jul 29 20:37:19 2003:

What is a "paspas"?

#19 of 25 by keesan on Tue Jul 29 21:11:30 2003:

Gunaydin.

#20 of 25 by mynxcat on Tue Jul 29 21:29:20 2003:

What is Gunaydin?

#21 of 25 by pvn on Wed Jul 30 06:33:54 2003:

paka

#22 of 25 by sabre on Wed Jul 30 21:53:52 2003:

Hey man....I like your posting style. Don't let the grammer queens and
spelling snobs change it one bit.

#23 of 25 by polytarp on Wed Jul 30 23:25:44 2003:

I'm afraid of pvn. He reeks of opium.

#24 of 25 by cemu on Thu Jul 31 17:03:34 2003:

a "paspas" is a door mat.
"gunaydin" is good morning.

#25 of 25 by mynxcat on Thu Jul 31 18:01:02 2003:

ok, thanks
