Grex Inbetween Item 2: InBetween walks [frozen]
Entered by scg on Sat Sep 24 18:25:20 UTC 1994:

Interested in meeting other InBetweeners in person? The weekly
InBetween walks happen every Sunday at 4PM at the Arb in Ann Arbor. We
meet at the Peony Garden entrance, and then generally walk for an hour or
two before going somewhere to do something else (usually involving food).
The entrance where we meet is on Washington Heights, near the UM
Hospital. Washington Heights is off of Observatory, and if you are going
norrth on Observatory it's the first right turn after Geddes. About half
way down the hill on Washington Heights there's a UM parking lot, and you
can park there without a permit on Sundays. We meet at the bottom of the
hill, just outside the gate to the Arb.

I've always been somewhat intersted in these things, but I can't concievably
think of anything to talk about...it would just be really awkward for me.

#2 of 191 by carson on Sun Sep 25 09:12:10 1994:

this week's AfterTweening was originally scheduled to take place at my
apartment. Due to circumstances beyond my control, we'll be meeting
at the Bagel Factory instead. Hopefully no one will get lost on the way
over.

#3 of 191 by scg on Sun Sep 25 17:18:29 1994:

Contrary to what I said earlier, I will be there. My other meeting got
cancelled.

#4 of 191 by carson on Sun Sep 25 20:07:44 1994:

Because of the storm, we're meeting at the Bagel Factory when we
would usually walk (4-6pm). Come on down if you want to see us.

#5 of 191 by anne on Sun Sep 25 21:25:42 1994:

I wish I could have gone. Like I tod Steve earlier, I will make one of the
walks sooner or later!

#6 of 191 by carson on Sun Sep 25 23:07:34 1994:

yeah, right. ;)

#7 of 191 by scg on Mon Sep 26 01:04:11 1994:

Bobbina, gerund, phenix, yagi, and I met in the parking lot near teh Arb, and
then after a minor adventure there moved on to the Bagel Factory where we
met carson. After we had eaten bagles for a little bit we decided the
weather had improved enough to walk. Since the Arb wasn't really in
walkable condition after the rain, we walked along the roads of Ann Arbor
Hills, getting quite lost and then finally ending up behind the Arby's on
Washtenaw. We then walked back to the South U. area through Ives Woods
and Burns Park.

#8 of 191 by anne on Mon Sep 26 02:38:12 1994:

Now this is the entrance near Markley- right? Cause I know where that is. Fri
night some of us went wandering around there, at about midnight, it was REALLY
neat to walk through the arb at night.

#9 of 191 by carson on Mon Sep 26 02:47:22 1994:

I was at the Arb at night. It was after a reported attack by the serial
rapist currently loose. It was very stupid to be there, as the campus
cops were out in full force. We spent several hours in hiding, then
decided to go home. I guess it was quite the adventure, even if it was
a waste of time since it wasn't with people I particularly have come
to care about.

#10 of 191 by eeyore on Mon Sep 26 02:48:40 1994:

i would really love to make it to one of the walks, but as i have to work
every sunday....

#11 of 191 by scg on Mon Sep 26 03:05:56 1994:

Yep, it's the entrance by Markley.

#12 of 191 by gerund on Mon Sep 26 05:14:38 1994:

Drenchings
Car keys locked inside cars
Dead Squirrel fetishes
Lightning
etc...

October is obliviously coming.

#13 of 191 by carson on Mon Sep 26 08:39:27 1994:

"Dead Squirrel fetishes"? did I miss something here?

#14 of 191 by gerund on Mon Sep 26 16:07:23 1994:

You missed the connexion between your praise of squirrels and the fact
that I stepped on that dead squirrel while we were walking by the side
of the road.

#15 of 191 by eeyore on Mon Sep 26 17:55:31 1994:

i've heard of some odd things, but that really takes the cake....

#16 of 191 by vishnu on Mon Sep 26 19:20:40 1994:

I saw a squirrel getting its genitalia poked out by a
crow once.... I took it as an omen.

#17 of 191 by eeyore on Tue Sep 27 02:28:54 1994:

thank you vishnu....

gaggggggg......

#18 of 191 by carson on Tue Sep 27 05:23:28 1994:

re #16: unfortunately, I've seen the same thing.

re #14: some connection.

#19 of 191 by gerund on Tue Sep 27 09:30:51 1994:

It was very awful... connecting with my foot like that.
Up to then the squirrels we had been running into were quite pleasant.
Quite alive too.

#20 of 191 by carson on Tue Sep 27 10:46:09 1994:

shapely, curvaceous, full-figured, gracefully, furry, well-proportioned...

#21 of 191 by eeyore on Tue Sep 27 12:05:30 1994:

carson, only you could come up with something like that!

now could we PLEASE stop discussing dead squrills??!?!?!?

#22 of 191 by carson on Tue Sep 27 12:56:34 1994:

dead flat squirrels aren't very curvaceous. I'm talking about live
squirrels I wish there were more squirrels in the Arb. Maybe we should
think about walking elsewhere, some place with more squirrels.

#23 of 191 by eeyore on Tue Sep 27 13:26:26 1994:

well, if you really wan t ot take a walk through my back yard, i'm sure
thatcould be aranged....

#24 of 191 by anne on Tue Sep 27 17:57:13 1994:

Carson- just walk around campus- thre are PLENTY of squirrells!!!!

#25 of 191 by carson on Tue Sep 27 18:02:10 1994:

I know! I *love* campus! they get REALLY fat and chubby and adorable!

#26 of 191 by anne on Tue Sep 27 22:38:55 1994:

I know. <smile>

#27 of 191 by eeyore on Wed Sep 28 13:21:42 1994:

like i said, come walk through my back yard...they get to be the size of
small cats and the chipmunks are the size of squirrls! (they get fed well)

#28 of 191 by anne on Wed Sep 28 14:40:15 1994:

We used to have lots of squirrels in our backyard, but now we have a cat, and
he thinks squirrels are awfully tasty! So we don't have any more squirrels....
<sniff>

#29 of 191 by eeyore on Wed Sep 28 15:13:33 1994:

get rid of the cat, then!
/beam!

#30 of 191 by anne on Wed Sep 28 17:37:50 1994:

#32 of 191 by carson on Thu Sep 29 00:14:08 1994:

strictly research, dang, strictly research. I'd do it in the name of
science. ;)

any suggestions for an AfterTweening spot?

#33 of 191 by scg on Thu Sep 29 02:54:55 1994:

I've been wondering about that new Mexican place on South U., Panchero's,
and would like to try it sometime. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll be
able to make the AfterTweening, and I know I won't be able to make the walk.

I'm assuming carson's apartment is off limits due to the flood (yes, it
happened again).

#34 of 191 by carson on Thu Sep 29 04:53:16 1994:

well, there are other reasons...

Panchero's sounds OK. I *hope* it's better than Miami Subs.

#35 of 191 by eeyore on Thu Sep 29 12:55:02 1994:

re 31 and 32: i am very allergic to cats. needles to saay, i'm slightly
against them. sorry!

i have no clue for aftertweening spots. i never get to go anyway!

#36 of 191 by anne on Sat Oct 1 03:21:47 1994:

Word of Warning- Pancheros SUCKS!!!!!! Very bad food there- I wouldn't go
if I were you. Whereas I WILL be at the walk, I can't do the aftertweening.
See you at the arb!!

re#35- alright then, I'll forgive you. Besides, I'm allergic too.

#37 of 191 by scg on Sat Oct 1 03:30:36 1994:

Ok. If it sucks, maybe we should reschedule to some other place. I'm
sorry you won't be at the AfterTweening, anne, since it would have been
nice to see you again. Actually, I don't know if I'll make the
AfterTweening, but I certainly won't make the walk.

#38 of 191 by carson on Sat Oct 1 08:48:11 1994:

I'm game for other suggestions. We could even decide after walking.

re scg not being there: you've said this several times now, only to show up
anyway. It reminds me of a line my brother had: "I *thought* we had
        an *agreement*..." ;)

#39 of 191 by scg on Sat Oct 1 14:05:39 1994:

Unlike races, which I sometimes levae right afterwords and find myself
pulling into Ann Arbor right at four, or last week's meeting I was
supposed to go to which was cancelled because nobody else had found out
about it, I have a meeting at 3:00 that too many people have now been told
about to cancel, and that I really doubt will end by 4:00.
