(This was written mostly as a personal reflection. Comments are welcome) Today was a great day. I got a math test back, and got a paper back in Writing class. It was a wonderful, sunny, warm day. It snowed yesterday, and I was wearing shorts today. But, the best thing was what happened as I was walking back to my dorm after my last class of the day. As I was walking through the Quad (Syracuse's answer to the Diag), I noticed something going on in front of one of the buildings. I stopped to take a look. It was Otto the Orange, Syracuse's mascot. He was in front of the building, just dancing around. He was hi-fiving the people in the crowd, somersaulting, and just generally being a mascot. I don't know if it was a scheduled event or just random. I don't care. For the few minutes I spent watching him, I felt like a little kid again. Mascots have the toughest job in sports. They have to go around in a hot stuffy costume, and make people smile. After a few minutes, I just went on my way. Smiling to myself, and thinking about how great just a few minutes of watching somebody dressed up as a giant Orange can be. Thanks Otto.
