Ode to Odie
Arf! cries the rascal joyfully,
Eyes the size of discs alight with innocent wonder,
Ears drooping kindly over an uncreased brow,
Pant! goes the boundless and giving energy,
Red tounge rolling out in open invitation,
Long neck bobbing in eager anticipation,
Slurp! genuine kiss of affection,
Somersaulting and stumbling,
from friend to friend,
over paws and heart
too big
Ever faithful,
Ever true.
Odie, we love you.

that has to be the oddest poem i've read... but i liked it!
I didn't find it that odd, but I like it too. I think it would actually be stronger without the last two stanzas.
I thought that "we love you" was intrusive, since it was the first point a "we" appeared. Up till then, I thought it was about Odie.
Uhmmm, thansk for the comments, I forgot what it waslike to present writing to others. Your points are well taken, and I concur. I really just wrote it as a joke for a friend, but your right, the ending doesn't really fit with the rest, but I think worked for the original audience of one intended. You might say it was just a bit of doggerel I had whipped up....<groans.... I know>
Send it to JIm Davis. You never know....(is their an Odie newsgroup?)).
Yet more fluff poetry...
Swiftly darting over waves of air
Bullet body exploding
In puffs of outstretched wings
Innocent daring of delighted ease
