Grex Travel Item 49: WINTER BREAK! is coming soon! [linked]
Entered by abchan on Fri Dec 1 13:08:36 UTC 1995:

Last year, we had the "Where are you going" item and instead of reviving
it and making people wade through half of it, I just thought I'd start
another one. SO, what is everyone going to be doing and where is
everyone going to be during Winter Break 1995-1996?

Well, I do get some time off at Christmas this year, so a part of
that time I'll be up in Ann Arbor, visiting family!! I do hope
it'll be a white Christmas, I miss the snow!!

<abchan wonders how she can link this to agora so more people respond>

#3 of 51 by rcurl on Fri Dec 15 17:09:25 1995:

Ask katie (agora fw) to do that - or maybe she has seen your request here.

#4 of 51 by bruin on Mon Dec 18 19:32:25 1995:

I'm going to visit my family on Sunday through Tuesday, December 24-26. My
sister and her family will be coming in from New York to my mother's house
in Adrian, and I'll be there the above-mentioned three days.

#5 of 51 by bruin on Mon Dec 18 19:39:11 1995:

P.S. This item has already been linked to Agora.

Wee hee! Florida here I come! (I think I better go now, before the snow
balls hit me head...)

Work :-(

#11 of 51 by danr on Tue Dec 19 01:31:18 1995:

work here, too. I like to take my breaks over the summer. :)

#12 of 51 by scg on Tue Dec 19 04:14:33 1995:

I'll probably work for most of it. I'll take advantage of most of the people
I work for being gone and bring my computer home, where I will be able to get
lots of work done in peace, without being constantly interrupted. I'm kind
of looking forward to it. I do plan to spend less time working than normal,
since I will have lots of friends in town who I haven't seen since summer,
and would like to spend some time with them. I'll probably go to my parents'
house for Christmas itself, but that's about a 20 minute walk from my
apartment, so it hardly counts.

I'm not sure, but I think I might go visit my aunt near Madison, Wisconsin,
sometime after New Years. If I do that I'll drive through Chicago on the way
there. Any Grexers either there or Madison?

#13 of 51 by eeyore on Tue Dec 19 06:32:22 1995:

i'm working...this week, about 65 hours...(sigh)

#14 of 51 by rcurl on Tue Dec 19 06:55:43 1995:

One week in Florida...

#15 of 51 by jerryr on Tue Dec 19 11:59:04 1995:

i'll be holding down the fort in ypsilanti, while my son visits
his mom in sunny florida. just think, no alternative music for
one whole week!

#16 of 51 by eeyore on Tue Dec 19 11:59:59 1995:

that is not necessarily a bad thing....:)

#17 of 51 by rogue on Tue Dec 19 15:07:55 1995:

I don't get a "Winter Break" -- I used to when I was in school and I took
it for granted.

I might go to Toronto this weekend with my parents. Don't know for sure.

I'll be working straight through Friday the 22th (thanks, Ford!), then singing
like a fool Saturday and Sunday. They're premiering a new piece of mine on
the 24th at the 9:30 service. Later in the week it's off to Washington DC to
see my kids (5) and try to avoid my ex (the wicked witch of the west). Plan
to be back home in ypsilanti on or about the 1th.

I'm going to stay home, I work X-mas eve and x-mas day, and might
even have to work a double on x-mas eve 8(
The bright side is all the overtime I'll get.

#20 of 51 by freida on Thu Dec 21 05:37:14 1995:

I am traveling from WVA to MD to spend time with my family...back on Thursday
or Friday...Happy holidays to all!

#21 of 51 by signet on Thu Dec 21 14:27:17 1995:

I'm staying put this year (in VA) and my sister and brother-in-law are coming
up from VA Beach for the 24th and 25th. My other sister, her husband, and
their two adorable boys (almost 2 and 5) are staying nearby at said husband's
mom's house where us other 3 will join them on 24th for the big family
together. Then on the 25th, I will have 6 people for dinner (two sisters,
their husbands and the 2 boys).

I'm going home in a matter of hours!
Too bad I have to miss all the great parties in A^2 :(

#24 of 51 by carson on Fri Dec 22 01:38:27 1995:

(great parties in A2? where?)

#25 of 51 by denise on Tue Jan 23 18:15:05 1996:

So how was everyone's break?? [for those that had them, I guess I should
add... Once the rest of you have yourse, please share! :-) ]

#26 of 51 by carson on Sat Jan 27 11:34:59 1996:

(I don't remember what I did for break. I'm not even sure I
had one. I suppose I should find out when my Spring Break is
and make up for lost time.)

#27 of 51 by abchan on Sat Jan 27 20:27:49 1996:

10 people... 1 house... 9 days...
Need I say more?

#28 of 51 by carson on Tue Jan 30 02:37:32 1996:

(YES! YES!)

#29 of 51 by abchan on Sun Feb 4 18:12:32 1996:

Florida, HEARTS, Batman Forever, Supertetris, Christmas mass, MTV Countdown...
(was that enough or do you still want to hear more?)
=)

#30 of 51 by carson on Sun Mar 10 12:59:28 1996:

(Hearts? No Euchre? how disappointing...) ;)

#31 of 51 by abchan on Tue Mar 12 22:43:31 1996:

What's Euchre? I'll teach them... I might be crashing their fort again soon.
=) this is the bunch I was referring to in that other conference

#32 of 51 by carson on Sat Mar 30 00:57:25 1996:

("what's Euchre?" that's practically a cardinal sin to ask. ;) Remind
me to teach you the next time I see you...) <looking off into distance...>

#33 of 51 by abchan on Sat Mar 30 01:57:56 1996:

Oh sure, tell me this *after* I leave... you could've shown me five days
ago but no... you had to wait until I was out of town again...
*pokes carson* ;)

#34 of 51 by carson on Tue Apr 9 00:50:19 1996:

(well, yeah. I needed an excuse to return to New York.) =)

(you say there's another Grexer at Cornell now?) :) :) :)

#35 of 51 by abchan on Tue Apr 9 00:55:43 1996:

Yes! I dragged my friend and fellow stats major Jonathan onto grex.
We met last fall when we TAed together, so I didn't know him when
you last visited and he wasn't on grex then. Now you *have* to visit!
Oh, and bring some friends ;) a particular chocoholic anime fan *is*
who I have in mind, but other friends are welcomed too!

#36 of 51 by carson on Tue Apr 9 11:49:49 1996:

(I don't know any chocoholic anime fa... OH. Ok!)

(I also have to swing by Saratoga Springs. That's near Albany, right?) =)

#37 of 51 by abchan on Wed Apr 10 02:52:46 1996:

<abchan *has* to get a copy of Fall 1994 agora to save a copy of that
response> I was one of the people in that room when you called to say you were
an hour outside of Albany and THREE hours in the wrong direction from here!
Thank goodness you didn't arrive at 4 am and wake us all up! We gave Emma
quite a scare too, if I remember correctly... ahh the good old days, and of
course, there was the chocolate cake :) at 1 am on a school night. Come back
for more! And Carson? Get a road map :)

#38 of 51 by carson on Thu May 2 19:56:47 1996:

(hey! I _have_ an atlas, thank you! I'd never have found my way back
across New York to Ithaca without it!) =)

(besides, I never said I was three hours in the wrong direction. Jeremy
did.) 8^)

('course, you pribly won't be out there when I _do_ make it out that
way this summer...)

#39 of 51 by abchan on Fri May 3 17:55:32 1996:

Well, either way you *were* three hours in the wrong direction!

And I'll be outta here after graduation. No clue if I'll ever return...
although it'd be nice to be able to make a road tirp for homecoming. We'll
see.
