Grex Travel Item 28: The Where are you going? item
Entered by scg on Fri Dec 9 05:45:10 UTC 1994:

It occurrs to me that there may be people interested in meeting Grexers
from other places, but who don't have the time, money, ambition, or
whatever, to do a Grex tour. Fortunately, there is probably an easier
way. If you're going to be traveling, post your destinations here, and
then people in the places you're visiting can see it and respond.

#19 of 43 by ddn on Tue Dec 13 01:56:36 1994:

have a friend driving down I75 to Florida for the holidays
and wonder where the best prices on cigarettes could be found -
which state has the lowest prices/taxes?

#20 of 43 by mdw on Tue Dec 13 03:50:35 1994:

The state of being smoke free is the best price. Sorry, but I
just had to point out the silliness of smoking, and then worrying
about how much it costs. But seriously, if you just gotta do it,
your best bet may well be to ask a trucker; besides the cost of
the cancer sticks & the taxes, you need to also factor in
any extra travel time, and any difference in price between
expressway rest areas, truck stops, strip malls, or other
stores located further from the expressway.

Gasoline has similar price factors; but I find it gets even more
interesting for my holidays - half the time I'm driving through
canada, which means I definitely don't want to buy gasoline
anywhere in the middle - usually I buy gasoline in Sarnia
or in Buffalo. In the US, though, I've never found it
worth it to drive out of sight of the expressway in a
strange place for gasoline. Food, on the other hand,
is another matter entirely...

#22 of 43 by denise on Wed Dec 14 18:34:49 1994:

#24 of 43 by fraizer on Wed Dec 14 23:09:56 1994:

let me know.

a trip to the NYC area for the first week of January.

#33 of 43 by nephi on Sat Dec 17 12:54:10 1994:

If I'm lucky, I'll be taking up a little drywalling over the break. 8*)

#34 of 43 by marcvh on Sat Dec 17 17:39:09 1994:

Sorry to hear about your ear, Katie, though maybe if there were more folks
like you, Amtrak would be in the black. :-)

I am being sucked up to the A^2 area by waves of guilt projecting from
my parents, but I may still end up staying down here with my family.

#35 of 43 by bmoran on Sun Dec 18 07:02:16 1994:

Sorry to hear about your drywalling, nephi. I'm staying home to!

#36 of 43 by nephi on Sun Dec 18 09:45:09 1994:

Actually, it is a good thing. If I can do it, I will also get to meet
some of the nicest, most interesting people I know of.

#37 of 43 by srw on Sun Dec 18 19:50:38 1994:

Nephi is referring to travelling all the way to Ann Arbor to help us
put up drywall in the basement of the house that is to be the new home
of Grex. Ian, the carpenter, will be there and we are assemble a small
crew of helpers as we had agreed we would do. This activity will take place
on Sunday Jan 8 beginning at noon. Painting will occur the following weekend.
I hope to be able to meet you if you can come, Nephi.

#38 of 43 by seraph on Thu Dec 22 01:31:20 1994:

I will be in Dallas Texas for New years eve only for a couple of days though!

#39 of 43 by abchan on Sat May 13 17:17:27 1995:

Even though this item was designed for people to post where they would
be over winter breaks, it occured to me that we should start it up again,
since I'm sure lots of people will be traveling during summer too, and
might be able to run into other grexers...

So, where is everyone going this summer?
