Grex Thezone Item 45: Revelations
Entered by eldrich on Tue Jan 23 01:20:55 UTC 1996:

The other night I was watching the evening news. They were reporting about the
flouds on the east coast that followed the big ol' blizzard. One man was quoted
as saying:"
First a blizzard, then floods! What's next? Locusts?!"
Mythology alwas talks about the god punishing wrong doers in the form of n
natural disasters, so I wondered: Is someone/thing trying to tell us
something?

Belch.. why should "god" even bother with that? It seems rather obvious to
me
that the Earth is only trying to get "herself" back to normal by blasting
us puny humans with some bad weather. Trouble is we just won't die.

#5 of 23 by orinoco on Sat Jan 27 23:57:02 1996:

Personally, I don't thing the earth is "trying" to do anything. Nature
doesn't "want" anything, nature is a series of random processes, that's all.

Newton would disagree.

#7 of 23 by orinoco on Fri Feb 2 23:20:57 1996:

True the laws of physics exist, etc. but there is no intent involved

#10 of 23 by y on Mon Feb 5 22:55:13 1996:

Is it not the intention of nature to enforce the laws of physics?

greetings raj, from the guy in the purple cloak. What do you guys One
question, how long does earth have before the ozone is depleted if we keep
on as we have been?

#16 of 23 by orinoco on Wed Feb 28 01:06:31 1996:

I would guess a long time before it goes away, but we'll all be dead before
that even if there is some left

orinoco, you're the one who made the most sense. yes ! we always seem to be
drawing inferences with our primitive imagination. It's good to theorise so
long as we dont jump to conslusions. nature does'nt make good things or bad
things happen. things happen. period. we categorise them as good, bad and
what have you. but i do agree with the general consensus that we've got a
lot to answer for. we're moving too fast and consuming more than we need for
our own good. it would be selfish to think of just today. after all,
procreation is one of the primary aspects of all life both within and without
the cosmos. away from philosphy and matter of fact, we are ruining our
environs and we will regret it. What pains me most is that we will go off
but it is our future that will reap the spoils of our doings. What we need
to do is simple - just let every man, woman and child do his bit. Yet this
seems so hard. Why are'nt simple things possible anymore ?

That is true, there's no dening that, but how do you propose to get people to
do anything about it? The truth is that the majority of us just don't care.

#20 of 23 by nistel on Sun Dec 1 14:46:17 1996:

keep telling them. telling ourselves. that seems the only way.
