I propose that we remove nharmon fw and instead get someone like either
mcnally or maus. I have no personal issues with nate. He has his good points.
However, when it comes to Unix and Programming, the guy is a complete and
total fucking moron.

I have no problem adding additional fair witnesses, but I don't see any reason

Dan,

Unix and Programming implies that you will get responses from a person that
knows what they are talking about. Nate has no fucking clue. I'm just of the
opinion that nate isn't qualified for this forum. The only thing nharmon knows
how to do is shove some ethernet cable into a network switch. I just think
having nharmon as a fw is misleading to newbies coming onto here.

For example, we might have some sophmore CS major for Princeton come on here
and asks a fairly simple CS question. All of sudden, nharmon, who has never
taken a real CS class thinks he knows the answer so he responds. The newbie
thinks that this is correct because nhmaron is a fw, and hence knows what he
is talking about. After the newbie leaves, either mcnally or twenex points
out the fallacy in nharmons thinking. However, the damage has already been
done.

Dan, you don't think this is possible? A while back, nharmon tried to create
a chat line bot in Perl because he thought he knew what he was doing. At the
time I told him it wouldn't work because he needed to set up psuedo terminals
in order to make it work. He told me that he had been programming in Perl for
several years and that I had no clue what I was talking about. After me and
vive got a working bot, this faggot asked me why he couldn't get his bot to
work.

Nharmon couldn't get his shit to work because this idiot has never taken kind
of science class that requires rigorous thinking. However, he thought he knew
what he was talking about because he had written shit for work as opposed to
any kind of formal schooling. And that is what my issue is with nharmon. If
he has that kind of attitude with me, imagine what is has or told newbies.

There is a large fucking difference between knowing the material and
understanding the material. Nharmon just knows the material, but doesn't
understand the material because he lacks both the math and cs classes in order
to understand what is going on.

And nate, you know damn well I'm right. Before you shoot off your mouth, think
back to all those times you got your ass handed to you in the job interviews
you had. The questions these people were asking you was to make sure that you
understand what was going on as opposed to just thinking that you know what
is going on.

Summary. Nharmon is as qualified to be the Unix and Programming fw as I'm
qualified to be CEO of Bank of America.

 You seem to be confusing being a "bits" conference freewitness with..
 well, I don't know what you're confusing it with, but there's no
 reason one needs to be an expert in the subject matter to which the
 conference is devoted.

nharmon has demonstrated this by consistently saying that The Java Programming
Langauge and the Java VM are the same thing. Anyhow, I stil feel nharmon is
a blemish on this conference.

But ... being the fair witness doesn't mean that you are an expert, just that
you are willing to do some of the administrative tasks for the conference.

Well, I think the best way to respond to #2 is not to respond at all
except saying McNally would be a great fw for this conference.

Irrelevant!  We will *make* you fw, and the quality of this conference
will surely skyrocket!!

Actually, aside from some of the heckling, I'd say that the quality of this
conference is already around the highest levels of those on Grex as a whole.
