Grex Synthesis Item 58: Something Happened to Me one Night
Entered by gerund on Mon Nov 21 22:59:28 UTC 1994:

Ok. some of you know about this and some of you don't.
I want to get some info/input/comments/whatever. So I'm entering this item.

A few nights ago, while I was getting ready for bed I heard a distinct and
clear voice say my name. It sounded like someone standing right next to me.
I kinda freaked, as this doesn't happen to me daily, and I searched
the apartment and even went outside looking around.
No one was there.
THe voice was female, and it seemed to be something like that of
a 15 16 17 18 year old.
If it has something to do with some dreams I've been having then it IS a female
and it's a 16 year old and she's of the dead type. This is all the info I'm
giving at this point unless someone asks me for more. This has got me rather
nervous, despite certain individuals making rahter light of it. I suppose they
wouldn't make light if they understood more, but I'm not sure I'm ready to go
fully spilling my nightmares in public. I just want some input.

29 responses total.

I have a relative of a Salem witchtrial victim following me around, Gerund,
and while I generally don't have a problem with him, he does make me nervous
now and then.

Has she tried to talk to you at all? Does she appear to be in distress?
Have *you* tried to talk to *her*? If it seems that she wants something of you
or from you, then try to figure out what it is. If she's just pestering you,
and it's bothering you, you might want to try to exorcise her, although Samhain
(Halloween) is usually the best day for such things. (If you do want to
exorcise her, (a) get help -- talk to any of your favorite pagans, and (b) make
damn sure she's really deceased -- absolutely no sending living souls to the
Summerlands allowed!)

I'm not up to this folks.
Whatever this is, I'm not 100% SURE it's connected with the dreams.
Anyhow... nothing has happened in the last few days, so I'm going
to forget and forgive.

#3 of 29 by anne on Tue Nov 22 03:30:25 1994:

forgive, but don't forget, cause it could happen again.

#4 of 29 by eeyore on Tue Nov 22 13:55:27 1994:

remember, and record. is there a pattern?

keep dates, etc....

#5 of 29 by gerund on Tue Nov 22 18:44:59 1994:

Sigh... you know how there is that one law of physics or something..
The one that says things tend towards... uh... equilibrium or something
like that? I think the whole universe is after me right now.
This dead chick, at least the girl in the dreams... She apparently
isn't much more than a memory after I have the dreams, so I can't
say much about her. There was something,
I wish I could remember what, that connected the voice I heard
to those dreams. I figure this isn't much to go on, and
w/o any other occurances I guess I should forgive. The forget was
kinda sarcasatic, anne. Dead chicks can be hard to forget. I wish
I knew what it all was though... sigh. Yes. This is driving me bonkers.l
I suppose if time goes by w/o any other happenings I'll settle down though.
sigh

If you're going to do something about your situation on your own, Don't
use Magick if you
re not experienced. Have somebody come in and do it for you. Never just
pick up a book or movie and try copying what they do without
proper grounding and guidance.

#7 of 29 by kami on Wed Nov 23 06:15:01 1994:

thank you laughing bear! no kidding! if anyone missed #6, read it again.
(Unless you've already learned that lesson sufficiently...)
Gerund, what ever your visitor is, it won't do you any harm unless you are
paralyzed with fear. We'll talk more when I get back from visiting my
parents- speaking of which, there is some chance it may be your turn to put
me back to gether then... (or everything may be fine. right.)

Brighn, I disagree- I think Samhain is the WORST day for exorcisms- it's
easier for things to get here and harder to get rid of them for some reason.
Better time for inviting folks. Exception: people who really WANT to get
where they belong but are trapped here. The open gates may enable them to
go "home" with less shoving than otherwise. Make sense?

More later.

#8 of 29 by brighn on Wed Nov 23 07:07:24 1994:

That's what I was referring to, Kami, assuming that the entity in #0
is just lost and, yes, willing to go home... unwilling is another
story.

Now that I think about, the exorcism we did (little lost kitty soul)
was on Yule, not Samhain. The spirit showed up on Samhain.
My mistake.

(My first mistake since 1978... a new record falls! :)

#9 of 29 by brighn on Wed Nov 23 07:11:35 1994:

... which leads me to ask, Gerund: When did the dreams start?

(Second Laughing Bear's emotion (well, third it now), with the proviso
that some sorts of magick are not that difficult to control that one
need worry about perfection... BUT DON'T MESS WITH SPIRITS UNLESS YOU
KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. You can screw up, say, a job spell, and you might
not get the job you want; noncorporeal entities are another thing altogether.)

See you when you get back, Kami dear.

#10 of 29 by eeyore on Wed Nov 23 13:27:33 1994:

r
don't worry, kami...if you come back a giant jig-saw puzzle, we'll get you
all put back to gether! :)

i would fourth the emotion in 6, but since i feel that it would be a little
redundant...and not only that, but i haven't dealt with any of thaat, and
i could STILL tell you not to play with them!]

#11 of 29 by gerund on Wed Nov 23 13:37:27 1994:

I'm not intending on PLAYING with anything.
The dreams, which may or may not have anything to do with the voice, although
I think they do, have been coming and going since 1991. Yeah... I remember
the first time, because it's not often that I dream of dead people that I
don't know, with names I don't know... sorry, I can't remember the name, I only
think I might have heard it once... I mean this dream was not something
I could trace to a conscious event in my life. Usually I can do that.
Anyhow... This is the first time I ever heard anything while awake, and
I wish I could remember what caused me to associsate it with the dreams.
Oh well... maybe if I don't try so hard it'll come to me.`.`

#12 of 29 by eeyore on Wed Nov 23 13:41:42 1994:

gerund...one idea is to start thinking about it, and then just let your mind
wander...i usually find that i can remember all sortsa goodies when i try that.

#13 of 29 by peacefrg on Wed Nov 23 14:32:34 1994:

You did an summoning on a cat??

#14 of 29 by eeyore on Wed Nov 23 15:05:53 1994:

no, not me...:)\

#15 of 29 by peacefrg on Wed Nov 23 19:22:32 1994:

Cats are cool. I don't know about un-dead cats though.

#16 of 29 by gerund on Fri Nov 25 17:28:13 1994:

No cats involved in this... I don't think.

#17 of 29 by brighn on Fri Nov 25 19:15:33 1994:

Peacefrog is talking to me, I think.

A friend of ours had just had a cat die. She wanted to do a parting ritual,
and we combined that with the exorcism: she invited her cat back from the
Summerlands, and asked her when she returned to take the little lost kitty soul
with her. (No, it wasn't the same cat -- we all concurred on what the cat
looked like, and it didn't match our friend's cat in the slightest. We live
near a free- way, and near a bridge with rabid squirrels underneath; cats,
unfortunately, die fairly often by us.) The little lost kitty soul was
attracted by our three cats, and was exceedingly happy to be led to where it
belonged (to the Summerlands).

#18 of 29 by gerund on Fri Nov 25 19:22:28 1994:

Would you mind elaborating on this Summerlands concept?

#19 of 29 by brighn on Fri Nov 25 22:17:44 1994:

Summerlands i a term frequently used in NeoPaganism to describe the place
that souls go between lives... no judgements there.

#20 of 29 by peacefrg on Mon Nov 28 00:33:19 1994:

Bighn, When you say that the cats die by you, Do you mean nerar you or that you
kill hem?

#21 of 29 by brighn on Mon Nov 28 03:10:23 1994:

Sorry, Milwaukeeism. by me = near me
(Time to send the relatives back to Wisconsin...)

#22 of 29 by kami on Fri Dec 2 05:27:57 1994:

Summerland may be a variant on Tir Na nOg- the land of the young. your
basic paradise: people don't get old, weather is good, a variety of wierd
islands, much like real life but better and brighter, etc. One of the
options for what happens after death. Usually presumed to be a stopping
off point between lives or realities.

Eeyore, I like your suggestion to set the mind drifting in the desired
direction.

Well folks, I', BAAACK! wonder of wonders, in one piece. I seem to be
growing up: it's a lot easier to recognize when something is my parents'
shit and not buy into it. I can't say it was fun, but I'm glad I went.
Not as glad as I am to be home. Don't know when I'll next see you walkers
or assorted others in person, but if Grex manages to stay up for a bit,
I might get caught back up on the discussions.

Gerund, any further dreams or visitations? Any insights? Getting used
to the experience? Might as well if you are going to have a tendency to
attract such company. Saves loneliness...

#23 of 29 by brighn on Fri Dec 2 07:34:41 1994:

I saw Kami first! Nyah nyah nyah!
*ah* Got that out of my system.

Yes, Gerund, is there anything new or worth updating us on?

#24 of 29 by gerund on Fri Dec 2 13:27:20 1994:

Yes, but not in this area.

<Gerund grins>

Actually, I'm a bit perplexed regarding the 'dreams'. I've been wondering if
I've still been having them, but forgetting them. Sometimes some incident
during the day will spark some brief memory from the previous sleep period
and I'm almost sure that "she" had been around. I can't remember having drempt
though. In fact, I can't remember a single dream now for well over a week,
which is quite rare for me. I'm not thinking any of this means anything.
In fact, right now I have more pressing concerns on my mind, and I'm
not too concerned about this, since nothing that's too clear is occuring.

#25 of 29 by kami on Fri Dec 2 18:19:14 1994:

re:#23- sorry, dear. Actually, Fox saw me first: at Irish class. Eeyore and
Val and Anne saw me Wednesday. But you still count.

re: #24- entirely possible. DOn't worry, your unconscious is perfectly
competent to process dreams on its own. That's what it's for... They'll be
back when you need them or are not otherwise engaged.

#26 of 29 by gerund on Fri Dec 2 21:13:06 1994:

Otherwise engaged.....
Heh... this is making me laugh really hard at the moment.

#27 of 29 by kami on Fri Dec 2 21:23:14 1994:

laughter is a blessing. sometimes blessings hurt.

#28 of 29 by gerund on Fri Dec 2 21:36:16 1994:

yeah

#29 of 29 by brighn on Sun Dec 4 05:06:48 1994:

I was the first to see you and then report having seen you... nyah!
